Transport Tycoon Deluxe ported to the GP2X, with touchscreen support.
by ZodTTD and Senor Quack
based on OpenTTD 0.5.3

Last Update: Feb. 1, 2008 (build 020108)

* You can now push and hold Control anywhere on a window and drag it. This
allows complete use of windows that won't all fit on the small GP2X screen like Difficulty
Settings and Patch Configuration. Credits for some of the code goes to the PSP port author,
Jaime Penalba.
* Cleaned up window placements of difficulty settings and patch configuration.
* Fixed cut-off text and windows in newspaper articles.
* Added TTD's UNICODE TTF support, made TTF font drawing default to better
support foreign languages (all except Asian languages which will need a
separate TTD2X add-on pack)
* Added cheat menu hotkey: A+B+X+Y
* Added new command-line parameters:
1.) -p XX changes the normal cursor movement rate to XX, values can be 1-29
2.) -P XX changes the fast cursor movement rate to XX, values can be 1-29
(defaults for both of these are 3 and 12 respectively)
3.) -X (capital X) allows swapping of triggers when in F200 controls mode
to be mouse clicks instead of the usual Control/Shift keys.
This is to answer a request from a few users.

(This screenshot is of an older build, the toolbar is actually only one row now, with more playfield area thanks to zodttd's efforts)

PocketPC, Palm, and SmartPhone releases of OpenTTD can be found at zodttd's sites: http://esoftinteractive.com/openttd.html and www.zodttd.com

Be sure to read the included README.TXT for installation requirements!
This game requires the original data files from Transport Tycoon Deluxe. It is most compatible with the Windows version's data files.

CONTROLS:
TTD2X's control layout differs depending on which of three launch scripts are executed:

ttd2xui3.png
1.) TTD2X.GPE: for F100 users or those with F200s that don't want to use the stylus:

L TRIGGER: Left click
R TRIGGER: Right click
STICK/D-PAD: Move cursor
VOL DOWN: Control key (hold to drag windows too big for GP2X screen)
VOL UP: Shift key
A/B/X/Y: Scroll playfield
A+B+X+Y: Cheat window
R TRIG. + X: Zoom out playfield
R TRIG. + Y: Zoom in playfield
R TRIG. + A: Autorail tool
R TRIG. + B: Make buildings/trees transparent
R TRIG. + SELECT: Landscaping tool
SELECT: Remove non-vital windows
START: Speed-up cursor movement

ttd2xrheg3.png
2.) TTD2X_RH.GPE: For right-handed F200 touchscreen users.
L TRIGGER: Control key (hold to drag windows too big for GP2X screen)
R TRIGGER: Shift key
D-PAD: Scroll playfield
VOL DOWN: Right click
VOL UP: Left click (intentional, as it is easier to press VOL UP than VOL DOWN)
L TRIG. + DOWN: Zoom out playfield
L TRIG. + UP: Zoom in playfield
L TRIG. + LEFT: Autorail tool
L TRIG. + RIGHT: Make buildings/trees transparent
A/B/X/Y: Move cursor (shouldn't be needed)
A+B+X+Y: Cheat window
SELECT: Remove non-vital windows
START: Landscaping tool

ttd2xlhfj1.png
3.) TTD2X_LH.GPE: For left-handed F200 touchscreen users.

L TRIGGER: Shift key
R TRIGGER: Control key (hold to drag windows too big for GP2X screen)
D-PAD: Move cursor (shouldn't be needed)
VOL DOWN: Landscaping tool
VOL UP: Remove non-vital windows
A/B/X/Y: Scroll playfield
A+B+X+Y: Cheat window
R TRIG. + X: Zoom out playfield
R TRIG. + Y: Zoom in playfield
R TRIG. + A: Autorail tool
R TRIG. + B: Make buildings/trees transparent
SELECT: Left click
START: Right click

*NOTE* Volume control buttons aren't necessary, as they're sliders inside the game's GUI.
Look for the sound icon on the far right of the toolbar when playing the game.

Some users requested that I make the triggers the left/right mouse clicks when in touchscreen mode, like the F100 controls. I addded a command line parameter you can add to the launch scripts, -X (that's a capital X), that enables this. See the README.TXT.

If you'd like to donate to zodttd for his awesome feat of bring TTD2X to the GP2X, donate to him! Send a www.paypal.com donation of any amount to the following email: heirloomer -AT- pobox -DOT- com If you send a donation, you might want to write heirloomer -AT- pobox -DOT- com and make sure the payment was received. You have to copy the Transport Tycoon Deluxe for Windows data files into the data/ and gm/ folders, as described in the README.TXT

Keep trying, you'll get it eventually. Be sure to extract the .ZIP file onto your SD with "full pathnames" enabled. If you don't see subfolders like Patch/, data/, and gm/, it didn't get extracted right.

Yup it works like a charm!
Thanks! (feel a bit stupid though)

Don't know if it is allowed but Computer Idee has the full game for a download.
And I think it is freeware at the moment.

Don't feel stupid, I actually had the exact same problem when I first found ZodTTD's port! Anyone could mess it up, it's not like it gives you much explanation, it only gives a black screen, and that is our fault. Glad to hear you have it working :)

Unfortunately, I don't think it is freeware, at least not yet, not that I have heard, so you should edit your post to take out the link. Fortunately, members of the OpenTTD community are working on a complete replacement graphics set that will be included in the future.

It's not freeware, but several sites classify it as abandonware , if you google on that term you should be getting linksto abandonware sites.

On a completely unrelated note, one of them has a sister site called abandonia reloaded with fully legal remakes:

I tried this game on my new GP2X-200 w/ firmware 4.1.0 and the touchscreen controls seem rotated so left-right makes the pointer go up and down and up-down makes the pointer go left and right.

This is the first time I've logged in for a month or two (moved cross-country) and randomly saw you posted in my thread, what a coincidence! Anyways, I've only ever tested this game with firmware v4.0 on the F200 so it would seem that it is related to that. I'll probably try testing it sometime this week.

Can anyone else verify the problem for me?

Could this be updated with the new touchscreen fixes? :)
It would make this more fun to play, because the touchscreen is way too jittery at the moment.

Sure, here is a new build with my SDL touchscreen code:

http://www.mediafire.com/?7e2ssxjg3jy

Just rename your old "openttd" file in the ttd2x directory to be something like openttd.old, then copy this into there.

I couldn't completely fix the jitter, but I can pretty much build tracks using autorail even at the second zoom level, which I couldn't before. It also doesn't slow the game down when the pen is held down.

I should be finding time within the next month or two to bring in all the 0.6.1 changes into this port, too, so keep an eye out for that, as it will bring the following:
* newhouses
* newindustries
* signals and diagonal tracks under bridges
* trams
* autoslope
* oneway roads
* half tile slopes
* drive through road stops
* group management of vehicles
* timetables
