Would you buy this action figure?

Would you buy a Steve Jobs action figure for around US $100?

That's some stunning sculpting, but no. It's way too expensive (I wouldn't even spend that on a Mega Man figure), and my action figure budget is generally reserved for video game-related figures. :P

No, not if his family doesn't want it. Also too high priced. But stunning copy.

Mod has refused my request, why ?

I'm afraid I can't do that, as it would be a misuse of the abilities I've been entrusted with.

It is my post I would like it removed, thanks.

Hello

YOU ARE NOT FUNNY.............

Attention seeking at its worst.
Would you post that if someone else had posted it?

Hello

Yes I would I'm afraid, people should think before they post things like this that

it may cause offence or annoy somebody.

The man has not been dead that long and I find this post totaly disrespectful.

The man has not been dead that long and I find this post totaly disrepectful.
Disrespectful or not*, it's not what would fall under attention-seeking, by any stretch of the imagination.

*I'm inclined to agree that the action figure is disrespectful, as I thought as much when various tatmongers started producing memorial iPhone covers within days of his passing. SONY didn't make the action figure, however. ;)

Agree that the figurine is dis-tasteful , it would be really really weird and not just a little bit freaky to have this life like figure of someone who just died on your desk.

Also disagree that SONY was attention seeking. Just posting a story of interest .

this life like figure
Speaking from a design perspective, I really am stunned by the sculpting, even if it is in poor taste to sell such a product. I didn't pay full attention to the face close-up in the middle of the picture at first, and ended up thinking it was a comparison photograph until I looked again.

I think this is very cool, and for the quality, I don't think 100 is to much. I am no longer a serious collector as I once was, but this looks stunning in the over all action figure realm, great work.

I didn't go to the link, so I don't know the details behind this coming to market. I personally would never buy this, as I'm not a Steve Jobs fan, but I would imagine by my recent trip to the Apple store that there are millions of people around the world who would buy this and display it proudly.

I don't know why this would be a problem for anyone? It looks like a tribute piece to someone that many hold in a high regard, so where is the harm?

Speaking from a design perspective, I really am stunned by the sculpting,

There was a piece on state of the art 3D printing on BBC (one of those tech interludes in the news overnight) a few months ago, the presenter had his head scanned with a handheld scanner, and the resulting file printed on a full colour 3D printer. It omitted his hair, so the finished product was more like a facial bust, around 6 inches high - but it looked incredible, literally photographic quality. I wonder if the makers of the Jobs model used a stand-in and finished off the scan with existing images. The hair probably accounts for much of the price!

It's not mocking him, even if it is profiting from him. I can't really see any disrespect in it. Much worse tat has flooded the market following the demise of other public figures.

I don't see what is disrespectful either, my question really is if this is disrespectful what would a non disrespectful steve jobs action figure look like? If the answer is no steve jobs figure could be anything but disrespectful then I think we will just have to agree to disagree.

I just think it is disrespectful to my financial sense to think it is a fair trade to give a piece of paper with at dead guy and the number 100 on it for a figure of a dead guy.

Looking at a few shots of this same figure on other news sites, I'd suspect that the pictures in the OP at the top might be either of a superior 3D print or have been blended with the image they based it on. Not that the actual model looks rubbish, but it doesn't look quite so lifelike in the non-promotional shots - look at it here, for example:

You asked me to remove your posts AND mine. As I said, I will not do that, as it's a misuse of moderator abilities. Randomly removing posts is very poor form, and not something I will do.

I'm not the one doing any "dirty washing", as it wasn't me who made a response to a private message public.

I can't remove an account, as I'm not an administrator. You'll have to direct that request to EvilDragon.
