Hey folks,

My name is Benjamin and I'm a tech enthusiast with real appetite for handled devices.
As such, I am the current owner of a modded WiiU Gamepad with an Intel Core m5 (through an Intel Compute Stick) inside that I ordered to banjokazooie from sudomod forum.

PAID JOB
I am looking for someone with enough skills to put the inner components of a GPD Win 2 within a Nintendo WiiU Gamepad chassis. Price won't be an issue here.

We would use the below components from the GPD WIN:
  • Screen
  • Digitizer
  • Motherboard
  • Battery
  • USB-C connector
  • HDMI connector
And the below components from the WiiU Gamepad:
  • Front frame
  • Back frame
  • Controllers
  • Front buttons
Regards,
Ben

Sadly I'm not Ben Heck :p
I've been told to reach him but no idea if he's accessible enough to get pinged for such mod.

Hello!

Did you consider using a tablet + gamepad? Something like the shot bellow.

This is using a 10" Surface GO 8G + Ipega PG-9083.

It might work better with a smaller tablet - 8" would be perfect I think, though I'm not aware of any 8" core m tablet.

Well yes that would work. But similarly to the modded WiiU gamepad with a core m5 I own, I especially like the form factor and the unusual side of the project.

What are your hourly rates for this project? Are you supplying materials? Whereabout will be job be based?
I was thinking of something like 25$/h (I have no idea what would be a proper offer here). With a maximum cost of 600$.

I'd be providing the GPD WIN 2, and some stuff I already ordered (50$ Nintendo Switch chassis).

I leave in France, but I'm fine shipping it worldwide. Would be great is modder was WEUR or EMEA based.

To be fair, he's not got a switch and hasn't ordered one; he's ordered a switch shell from somewhere. I'm surprised he wants to throw away the GPD win's keyboard and nubs, especially when getting the joycons working is probably outside the scope of this (unless they're basic bluetooth joysticks which I guess they might be). $600 at $25/h gives you 24h or about two weeks at a couple of hours a night. I haven't looked into how hard it is to disassemble a GPD win 2, but I reckon you'd better hope for smooth sailing with that kind of budget; anything slightly hard you hit on the way is likely to break the bank, and leave you with a partially disassembled GPD Win 2 and an empty switch shell.

I don't really care about original controllers and will use joycons with Bluetooth. So, there is no need for a controller rewiring.

I believe a piece of complexity will be the bezel exchange on top of each touchscreen.

There might be some middle frame drilling to fit the GPD win 2 battery. Volume up and down + power buttons will have to be rewired as well as the addition of microsd + USB-c connector extenders.

GPD WIN 2 screen should fit just right in its spot and motherboard might need some additional screw holes.

Are you serious about this? Really,no offense, if you think it's possible to drill holes in a PCB with this level of complexity you are being naive. That said I haven't seen the WIN PCB, so maybe I'm wrong here.

If you get something working please post pictures.

I meant, motherboard holes might need specific screw fixation on the middle frame.

Whilst you can add a screw hole to one side of your plastic chassis, how do you plan on adding the plastic to the other side that the screw actually screws into?

Edit: I suppose you could drill both sides and use nuts and bolts. Would look proper Frankenstein then
