What are you playing this weekend/these days?

On the Backlit GBA: I also ditnt played much whit this Thing, maybe because it was too less time, .. and my Switch keep me busy, but the last time i played, the buttons worked great, its just that it eats (rechargeble) Batteries.. , One Time Super Mario Land (DX) and there are empty ^^..
Its maybe more like a cool Retro Gadged than a Real Playing Mashine, expecely if you want to take it on a Journey..
Did it actually switch itself off, or just show the red light? The GBA battery indicator is calibrated for alkaline batteries, and if you use rechargeables it lies.

Allthough there is a really big diverents between Mario 64 and the other Games.., maybe because the Gamecube and the Wii wherend limited to a Cardridge whit just a few mb?
Just imagine how janky a 3d Mario game would look like on the first playstation ;) Although that was only CD-based, so limited to ~700MB less music storage. The Gamecube's miniDVD-based game discs only gave you about double that, so you still saw some texture-shonk on that system occasionally. The Wii game discs were up to 4.7GB (assuming single layer in all cases), which you'd have thought would have made a bigger difference if that was all it was.

I think it's down partly to the limit of game space, but mainly down to game development. Mario64 was the first 3D platformer that Nintendo ever made, ignoring any virtual boy monstrosities, and was a launch game for the N64 in Japan. I can't really imagine why they didn't do a sequel on the N64 although in some respects LToZ 64 is that missing sequel. But then again, they never made a sequel to Sunshine on GC either, it wasn't until the Wii that they started to worship the almighty dollar so closely.

Well, i know how less mb the N64 Version of Mario 64 got, there is not that much space..

But on the other side, its quite amazing what they made whit the tiny space, there are some 2D Retro Indie Games that are 100 times more mb ^^

The DS Version is much more advanced whit better Charakter Modells, more Charakters, more Stars, but this is the Original expirence...

On the Retro Six GBA: What are the experience from the other Owners whit the Batterie Live ?

I think when i have finaly time, i will make a Comparasion whit Mario Land DX between my Gameboy Micro and the GBA even if the Picture on the GBA Micro is quite tiny due to the Gameboy Emulator on the Everdrive GBA^^

My backlit GBA was from a different modder. But I was trying to say, the red light appears much too soon when using rechargeable batteries. This happens on unmodded GBAs too. If I believe the red light, this means a rather short battery life. If I ignore it and keep playing until the batteries die, that might happen at a really annoying time. Usually, I take it as a hint to charge the batteries fairly soon but not in any great hurry. I'm probably using about half the real battery life.

Shure, rechargeable batteries don’t contain that much juice as non rechargeable, but I don’t think she should use these just for a retro Handheld as they’re not environment friendly..
I think I will load up the rom from super Mario Land DX, then put the Everdrive in my GBA, and take the runtime while I play, and then compare it whit the Micro..

Send from something, i guess ^^

I wouldn't be so sure of that. Apparently your common all garden AA battery can have a capacity of about 2.0Wh. A rechargeable AA battery can easily have that amount of power in it, since it only equates to roughly 1300mAh if we assume a constant 1.5V discharge. The difference between NiMH or NiCd batteries and alkaline AA batteries is that the discharge curve is rather different. Alkaline batteries have a long plateau at about 1.45V or something like that, and once it goes off the edge of that plateau it's a short skip to death. Rechargeable batteries start briefly at about 1.6V but pretty much continually slopes down until exhausted. I just pulled a supposedly 9V rechargeable battery out of my digital thermometer, and it was only actually pumping out a little over 3V. The probe was still functioning, albeit with the low battery LCD segment switched on. Simplistic electronics would stop functioning well before that, but I'd imagine something like a GBA to have quite a sophisticated power supply solution, boosting the voltage to make it sufficient to power the CPU and screen. So actually I'd expect you to get much greater gameplay on a GBA after the low battery light has come on, but the problem is unless you time is and remember the time you don't know when it will actually cut out.

That's what I'm saying. It runs for a long time after the low battery light comes on, and the problem is that I don't know how long.

No games. My pinephone should be coming someone this next week so I'm messing around compiling postmarketOS.

I found out that compilation on aarch64 architecture is not supported. Apparently they have trouble with their autobuilding and I couldn't get around it. Would have loved to compile on my pi 4.

So I had to install hacked firmware on a chromebook and set up a linux live distro. It's working but already had one "out of space error." Unfortunately I don't have another x86 computer available.

Fingers crossed on the latest attempt.

Super Mario Sunshine (3D Allstars)
Played a bit more, it’s way cooler then Mario 64, but sometimes it’s a bit difficult to fight the enemies whit the water cannon.., but it’s looks good and the music is also cool..

Super Mario Land DX (Retro Six GBA whit Display Mod)
My plan was to measure how long I can play whit my 2 1900 mah Amazon Basic Rechargeable Battery s as the last time, the GBA ditnt even came until the Airplane Level..
but today I was able to defeat the Endboss whit 30:02 Playtime.. , but the “New Game” after the Credits was then Game Over ^^
But the GBA still runs, so I think I will have to measure a bit more, as far as it’s shut off, I will make a post on the Backlight GBA Threadt

I use the GBA Everdrive whit the Game emulated because i want to know which GBA lasts longer:
The GBA Classic, or my good old GBA Micro .. (although the Micro got the advantage that I could recharge it whit a USB Powerbank..

Hades, Switch version.

I can't move my thumb from B to Y fast enough to consistently pull off dash-strikes. Fortunately, there's God Mode.

How small is the end link of your thumb, that you cannot cover both buttons without changing position? Hit Y with the tip and B with the joint.

Stopped playing Book of Unwritten Tales 2 in the middle. Compared to the concentrated experience of part 1 the successor feels painfully drawn out. The characters, especially Ivo the Elf, are like bleached out versions of their former, interesting selves. Ivo looks and acts like some Disney princess. It's a bit of a pity that basically only game length and graphics have been "improved".

Finished "Yesterday", an adventure with a good story. Puzzles were mostly alright, a few red herrings here and there, but it has a help function. So I could finish it without the help of a walkthrough.
Still working on Samaritan Paradox. I might just be too dumb or unattentive to pick up on most of the solutions in this one. Same goes for VirtuaVerse.

I've mainly been playing oolite on my laptop recently. It's a little weird going back to keyboard keys after controlling speed and things like that on my d-pad on Ptitseb's pandora port, but at least my laptop doesn't have slightly gimped keys the way the pandora does. Unfortunately on my laptop sometimes the graphics spam out by drawing a connection to the top left (0,0 I guess), and it generally freezes then crashes out if I try to dock with a second station in a row, so I've learned to save and quit in the first station I meet after selling my produce and buying new then buying fuel and setting my destination.

I'm mostly just trading for now, and fleeing in my Cobra Mk3 from any pirates I meet. Now I've updated to an advanced compass, I can more easily fly towards the sun for a bit then fork towards the station. The new compass really helps in finding the station as well, so it's a well recommended upgrade for new players. I think I did buy a rear beam lazer for my ship beforehand, but really I should have saved up for the advanced compass first.

Edit: Upgraded to 1.90 and that so far seems to have fixed the crashing issue.

Figured out how to reliably build my pinephone images on a pi4. But then I broke Atmosphere on my switch. Finally fixed that. Hacked my vita today and downgraded to 3.60. Now i need to figure out all the plugins and apps. Like sd2vita, vhbb, itls and so many others that were introduced to make the thing still useful.

After that I will either be playing Killzone: Mercenary on the Vita or Crysis on the switch.

I will say it looks and feels super premium compared to the psp.

Sick of SteamOS being totally neglected, I recently found out about a relatively new Arch Linux based project GamerOS

Iooks very promising, and it's a very easy install. Been playing No Man's Sky (on Ultra settings) and Monkey Island 2 (remastered version with optional documentary)... both of which failed to work for different reasons under plain old SteamOS. GamerOS also has the option of installing RetroArch games - uploading roms via a web-based interface.
