Future Drmd Release?

GAAAAAHHH more options!!!

Isn't the option already in there to turn off Z80? There's the PSG and FM channels which you can turn off already, turning off FM speeds the emu up considerably, and does leave some music playing in most games.

Hey guys keep in mind, the less requests for options Reesy has to try to put in, the more time he can dedicate to creating a better sound core and possibly speeding up the emulation a bit :p

Also for all you guys who didn't donate or aren't beta testers, remember the more requests Reesy tries to fill, the longer it will be before he finishes another public release, and the longer it will be before any of you get to enjoy DAC :D

Heh, very true.

@Billy Lee: I don't see a :) in your post, but you're joking right ;)

No, I'm serious... NOT! I just thought it would be funny to wind you up.

So, for the third time, when are you planning on releasing it? :)

why not add SNES? YoYo made a multi machine emulator for the Zod, so why not make a Genesis/SNES emu, you'd have the greatest 16-bit consoles side by side, and since you've done such a great job on DRMD, i'm sure you'd have no problem with SNES emu. (Is not joking)

Yeh, that's a great idea! I'm sure you could set aside 15 mins or so to write a SNES emu couldn't ya Reesy? :D

SNES is too complex to run very well on the GP32. You have all of those sound processors, DSPs, transparencies, mode 7, etc. Doing a SNES emu would take alot of time and have poor results, so it is just not worth it.

*still quietly hoping Reesy will give us a perfect TG16/PC Engine emu after DrMD is finished*

Imagine GP Engine but with all the great features DrMD has (and will have) and even better compatibility... Me thinks this would cause tears to flow from my eyes and more donations to flow from my wallet :D :p yes I'm shameless

TG16, Genesis and Doom were THE reasons I bought my GP. I never really had any hopes that SNES emulation would be really even worth trying but for a few of the 'easier' games. Genesis is covered, Doom just needs the damn BLU+ fix already... a better TG emu with saves at the least and my GP would truly be complete. And a guy like Reesy could probably get it working with CD game support with full music using MP3's... this has already been done on Xbox... you could fit 2-5 full TG16 CD games on a 128MB SMC this way... Dracula X on GP32 would be ... hell I dont' think I know of a word that could possibly describe what that could be.

Reesy keeps hinting at a project that he'll follow up DrMD with.... what else could it possibly be I wonder?? Reesy is it even an emulator of any kind or something else entirely?

And can someone PLEASE give me that list of genesis games that are better to play on Fgen?

If I wrote a TG16 emulator it would definitely be based on PCEAdvance by Flubba, I can't believe no one has attempted this yet. All that needs to be done is the graphics rendering as PCEAdvance uses the GBA hardware. I also can't believe that no one had made use of PocketNes source.

I'm probably going to add my new menu system to my GP32 port of DrSMS. I know we already have loads of SMS emulators but mine is way faster and more compatible than all of them. :) So it seems a waste not to release anything.

A DrPCE based on PCEAdvance by Flubba would be most welcome I can assure you - just as you porting DrSMS to the GP32. As before, shout if you want any gfx for them!

Reesy, DrSMS on the GP32 would absolutely ROCK!! The current emus are ok but have problems. fSMS has the "split screen" bug, plus is gets slow sometimes. There is Masterlator with a nice menu but has some compatability problems and lack of features like full screen.

As far as PC-Engine, I am surprised that no one has ported PCAdvance either. I am suprised that FluBBa himself hasn't done it especially since he has a BLU (wouldn't he like to see it running full speed, full res on a much larger screen?). I guess he refuses to look at anything other than Nintendo branded systems, it is a shame as even the DS doesn't have enough screen resolution to do PC-Engine correctly.

@ Bast GPEngine is good but it is lacking more than just saves. Some games are missing backgrounds, a few games don't run at all, a few are missing sprites, Blazing lazers turns to graphic mush after the first boss rendering it unplayable. There is definetly room for improvement, but since the source code was lost in a computer crash it is dead.

Speaking of lost source code, Reesy you have the DrMD sources backed up right :)

I know you have your hands full with DrMD, and it is turning out great so take your time. I am happy with that so I am not expecting anything else. Whatever you do I am sure it will be great. Thanks for everything :)

Fgen is faster than DrMD that's why DrMD will appear jerkier.  Fgen is faster because

1) it does not emulate the Z80 processor
2) it does not emulate line interupts

Now I could take z80 support out of DrMD and remove support for line interrupts and DrMD would fly.  But you would have a super fast emulator with limited compatibilty.  Now I know what I prefer :).

I like DrMD the way you are doing it. I am not sure why people are telling you to take out features that make your emulator so great

If they want a faster stripped down emu they can use fGEN.

After DrMD I never use fGEN anymore.

WOW yeahhh :p a DrPCE would be the most perfect thing needed for my GP :p
/dreaming_mode : immagine a perfect emu, so well made like DrMd, with perfect performance, perfect compatibility, sound, save, cd-rom support :p rhaaaaaa LOVELY :))
Damn, if you choose this as your next project you'll receive some 'pocket money' on your paypal account ;p
oh and in my opinion DrSMS on gp32_console would really really ROCK :p A perfect SMS emu is still missing, & you're the man Reesy to success in it :)

Heh I know I've mentioned my wish for a better PCE emu before but this is the first time so many others have chimed in that they would be as happy as I would to have one.

Reesy - you have spoke my mind to the letter. I've thought the same thing many times and have actually asked here and around gba boards, why Flubba wasn't doing his stuff for GP as it's common knowledge he does have one as well... if it'd be at all possible to do a 'quick and dirty' port of Pocket NES and Pocket PCE to the GP... man that WOULD be something. The last few updates of Pocket NES, in particular, have made it nearly flawless with compatibility with games like Castlevania 3 and Batman which before had always been buggy or didn't work. Pocket PCE is amazing but has obviously hit the limitation of what the GBA can do... but as a technical achievement IMO it was freakin awesome. Would it be possible to keep the CD game support and have it run MP3's or OGG's on the GP? Also Reesy, if this were just a port, is it something that wouldnt' take a great deal of your time to adapt?

Funny also that you mention about DrSMS, just earlier today I went searching the archives for DrSMS for my GP thinking this was already out but was unable to find it and was going to ask about it. I agree that this is another port I would definately be more than happy to have. Much respect and appreciation to Ryleh as fSMS is very well done with fantastic options (all the different choosable screensizes ROCK!) and I've always had my eye open for an update that fixes the last few bugs.... a port of DrSMS would be just as sweet :D

Well now there's at least two of us who would definately donate some more cash to have a PCE port from Reesy... a very small bit of incentive I know :( but hey at least you know now it's not just me who'd be thrilled to have it :D Really though this isn't to be picky, WHATEVER your next project is that you have in mind I'm personally looking forward to it with great anticipation and am sure whatever it is it will rock.

I put all the old beta's of DrMD on my gp32 along with fgen and gigadrive.

fgen and gigadrive dont compare with beta 3 and above.

people who havent donated and only have the public release are in for a real suprise.

Some games are running at 100% with 100% sound at 144Mhz

stuff like aladin, lion king, boogerman and pitfall are PERFECT.

on the what next side of things..........

Noone's done a BBC micro emulator?

How about DrBBC?

There are source's available online and craig from GBAX reckons he had one compiling after just a night of messing about.
