when the gp32 first game out i was so excited about it, the scene really started picking up and that was cool, but life got in the way and prevented me from purchasing. just look at when i registered on this site, i really wanted one. anyway.im am in a better situation at the moment and was thinking about buying a gp32 from the very reputable gpax.com. has the scene disappeared? am i too late, the people that released the gp32, have they another machine in development and when is it to be released. and also whats SNES emulation really like.

thanks.

well, youll be glad to know that the scene is not dead!!! but very much alive!!!

there is a rumour spreading that there is a new gp32 in developement but, im not too sure if this is real or not, but i still would recomend getting a gp32!!!

snes is very playable, even better when the sound is off, so if thats all you wanted, i was very happy to help you.

SNES IMO isn't that amazing.
It is about FS 2 @ Fullspeed with no sound. But with sound we are talking about 4-5 fps on some games.
And I for one can't live without sound.

lets hope that you dont become deaf then

so basically some people bought the GP32 for SNES emulation, when there are a ton more emus and homebrew games

which games are just 4-5 fps and what clk speed you running at?

which snes games are you planning on playing? maybe there are genesis version

as for the scene yep it has got a bit quietier on the EMU author front but then again there arent as many unemulated systems left to emulate, poeple come people go just give a thanks for all those that have been around and look after the new devs.

I find a good few games work fullspeed with sound at 166mhz and frameskip 2.
Chrono trigger, for one

yeah snes is not perfect but its very playable without sound ...
+ we have genesis emulation witch is, speed wise, perfect.
some games are not running but that will be fixed :)

+ in a few months we will have the "f-day". On this happy day in gp history well have 13 ! emus released. All done by our god rlyeh :p

+ with fenix we have much young devs starting to dev for the gp32 :)

+ the scene is still as nice as it was some years ago ;)

info about fday on retrodev.info ! :)

The scene may or may not be less active (I haven't been around here for a massive amount of time) but then there is a lot less that needs improving on the emulation front, and there are certainly still a large number of homebrew games being released.

All, I can say is SNES is playible with out sound fine but don't buy a GP32 just for SNES. Also, emulator game compadability is a bigger deal as how the PC emulators iwll play most all games with all the emulators NOT written by Rlyeh with the exception of Little John can play a lot of games but do not have as high as a game compadability as the PC emu's do. Bottom line wiht teh GP32 sucked we would not all be here spending our times on these forums....

it's 12 but that is good enough

IMO the scene is very active and doing well exspecially with the ending of the www.gbax.com 2005 contest

still awaiting the judgeing I think
and the preview of fDay was released to and I have to say fGB32 is AWESOME
