full speed rtype 3 and alien 3. excellent!
Pulstar on the NG is also full speed and playable now. If you like R-Type, it's a direct lift. Do check it out.

mario kart and pilot wings both utilise a DSP chip which may not be properly emulated yet, and Pulstar was more a sequel of r-type as it was coded by the original programmers of the first and 2nd r-types.

I thought that was the case (heard it some time ago), but I couldn't find a source confirming it when I did a quick search.

Is there anything special to get the emulator running ?
I only get a black screen when I start one of the 3 emulators.

I have copied a rom in the ROM folder and I just copied the whole folder with everything to my SD Card's root.
It's formated FAT32 and I get other games working like Rockdodgers or Quake.

May need system roms if NGCD. May need skins for newer versions of the emulators (shouldn't get a black screen, should display an image if the skins are installed), may need the SDL_mixer and SDL_ttf, et al libraries installed with the library update. (If mahjongX etc work, then you should already have those installed).

Libary update here:

Emulator skins here:

yeah it's about 85-100% speed in rock n roll racing, tiny toons adventure and parodius. Pilot wings is about 60% though.

The reliability isn't perfect though, I got 2 crashes when playing each of those games for about 5 mins each.
I know, I'm asking too much too early, but it's not perfect in speed department, either. Even Nes emulator is running with frame skips making control on action oriented games tricker than it should be.

Thank you for your help.
It's working now!
I hacked a bit around and I believed the SDL libraries were not installed correctly :)

I can run the SNES emulator - it runs a lot of games almost full speed.

The problem is when I run the neo geo program - it says Now loading SNES for GP2X (no mention of neo geo) and just hangs there.

Any idea?

Edit: And yes, I did install the libs.

So, would you guys say the emu is faster than OS9XGP, both without sound?

No. Donkey Kong Country (as my kinda standard benchmark game) is somewhat more juttery than on OS9x at 166MHz *with* sound. However, others are a lot smoother than OS9x with sound (haven't really tried without tbh - an e.g. being Terranigma). However, it does have transparencies, meaning its the first emu around on any GP that CT can be completed on without evil hacks :D

It does seem to have auto-frameskip though, so even though jerky it's pretty speedy :)

Sorry, But i have to correct you, Snes9xgp by Interlecto does support transparencies, And plays pretty good (fullspeed) @ 192 FS 2-3, Thats without sound, Which doesn`t bother me at all.

Did you install the system roms? That's important.

You also may want to install the Emus in separate folders, some people have previously noted that that helps.

True... but 192 is imho pushing it a bit for the GP32. Rightly or wrongly, I wouldn't expect my GP32's CPU to last more than say 5 years (assuming it would have lasted 10 if it were running only at 133MHz, say), and conceivably not even that (estimates vary as to just how much time heavy overclocking hacks off processor life). Whereas the 2x is *designed* to run at 200MHz.

Snes9xGP is good, true (I played a good whack of Earthbound on it), but I would definitely say this is somewhat faster than that. Or maybe it's simply that I didn't push it over 166MHz and have been on OS9x for too long. However, you're correct that it's not the first it can be completed on without hacks - perhaps it would be better to say, without evil hacks and/or running at a speed the CPU of the device it's running on is supposed to be capable of :p ;) .

Okay, I found this:

http://soft.studa.com/Download.asp?ID=1599&sID=0

I unpacked it into the root dir with neo geo emulator files, as well as into the roms dir. but it still says now loading, and it says snes when I'm running the neo geo..

The latest edition has them in its zip file.

It uses whatever skin is in the skin0 folder, which is probably a SNES skin. Shouldn't make a difference what skin it is.

Delete any config or cfg files to make sure you don't have an entry that is confusing the emu (it will create new ones with defaults).

Check your system rom MD5SUMS (these ones work):

Uhh...isn't it against that against the rules for the BIOS to be included right there in the zip?

dear lord, i just got Twinkle Star Sprites working in nk's neo geo cd emu ...

this has always been one of my favorite games!

i'm not playing with sound but it's hard to say if this game is running "full speed" or not, because afaik TSS also made the original neo geo slow down!!! but it feels a but sluggish/skippy.

still, unbelievable ... to have this game in the palm of my hand
