Squidgesnes 0.35 Hack

Is any one else having the same problem as me?

When I try to change any of the setting in the menu, then go to save, it goes back to gp2x main menu without saving.

I'm on the cramfs 1.4 firmware.

Any ideas people?
Um... Doesn't cramfs make everything read-only?

Reesy, if your going to making major changes, such as asm rendering routines or 8-bit code, then feel free to rename the emulator rather than calling it a hack.
But, but, but... that would be like a fork

I haven't tested the Reesy versions myself yet (not much time) but I'm really rather excited that two of the people whose emulators I respect the most are working on the same project.

How about you call it DrSquidgeSNES and make a true joint project out of it?

I'd defininitely go along with that sentiment.

I would go along with anything that had your breasts, basically.

try running CloneKeen before it, shoudl work then. You don't have to use the full version, just use the shareware one found on google. the game also doesnt take up much space, plus it's fun!

Zelda works w/ sound for me, but I've found if I load a savestate from squidge's .35 (while saving, I had the sound turned off for faster gameplay) in Reesy's new version, I don't have sound. I haven't had a chance to go back into .35 and save game w/ sound on to see if it will work in the hack so I don't know if that is indeed the problem.

No, the sound thing with save states permanently disabling sound is present in squidge's version too.

"Dead"?!? What's near enough in the future for you?
Did you read the posts for just this last week?
Which version of .35 did you try? This one is the latest.
The changes/fixes Reesy is implementing take more than a couple of days.
Read the posts!

EDIT: And what do you mean "doesn't work"? Doesn't start up at all?

thanx wolfsclaw that seems to work.

quick question..... anyone know why that works? or better yet anyone have an idea why it works. im a bit new at this but it seems that if you have to run a diffrent emu before the squigsnes emu is it possible something is not loading correctly?

as long as it works maybe i shouldnt question..lol

got love it running though

I have to say, I find the clonekeen trick completely baffling. I wonder if it's initialising something in the hardware that DrSquidgeSNES is missing.

Just to satisfy my curiosity, if / when the solution is found could you please post the offending code to the board (or email me)?

The complete sourcecode for CloneKeen is on my site, but it doesn't do anything special, so it's probably something in the SDL_init code from paeryn's libs.

I dunno... since the last version of SquidgeSNES, I can open any ROM, zipped or not with no problems. The previous releases were problematic, and I had to start up Castlevania IV on .34 before .35 would work. That, and/or Actraiser. Never tried CloneKeen.

The SquidgeSNES_dr2.gpe is the one I use without problems.

Ditto. I've had no problems at all with this version. Zipped or unzipped both work and I've had no problems with sound. However I think (I could be wrong here) that there might be a memory leak in the menu. After opening and closing the menu so many times it crashes. I know this isn't something Reesy has done because he hasn't touched the menu code and it used to do this on older versions also. Not that I'm complaining about it, I'm just pointing out a bug.

I don't understand this;

I know 2 people who have to use the newest 'bug-fix' version of Reesy's hack, yet the previous version (suidgesneshack.gpe) worked just fine for me 'out of the box' ... it also works on my wife's machine too.

I even formatted their cards and copied all my files over .. wierd ...
