«The XGP is also designed as multimedia player for things such as movies and MP3s, it is also able to playback the mobile Television standard T-DMB.»

Does this mean that we can't watch tv in europe since most countries don't use this technology?

yes... which you could have also read in the numerous xgp related threads on this board...
nontheless there is a slight chance that there will be dmb in europe in the future. Apparently they are testing dmb broadcasts in the uk and parts of germany right now as far as I can recall the rumors. Might be supported in the future, might end up in the trash for useless marketing ideas...

to be honest, I hope they remove the feture for non koreans, as it will be a huge extra cost and by the time it is released in countries with rigorous standard systems like Australia, UK and the US it'll be a dime a dozen and probably a more refined and less error prone standard.

And to be honest, Austrlia is more likely to go with MediaFLO or DVB-H.

DMB for rest of the world:

Some T-DMB trials are currently planned around Europe:

* Germany will launch a T-DMB commercial service for the World Cup 2006
* France is currently running a trial in Paris
* Switzerland and Italy prepare a trial for 2006
* UK launch a commercial service for middle of 2006
* China launch a commercial service for middle of 2006

I'm sure those are clues, as DVB-T is spreading as digital terrestrial television in europe, T-DMB will spread as well for portable systems.

t-dmb broadcast starts tomorrow in germany, so i would realy like that feture :)

Don't forget that a lot of people in the UK keep refering to T-DMB as DAB-IP (I understand there one and the same tech but I never did bother to check for sure ;)). The problem with a lot of this tech at the moment is it's all a bit Beta/VHS and things have yet to settle so no matter what horse you back you could be onto a looser.

In the UK I know at least some mobile operators are looking at it to see if handsets supporting DVB-IP are viable (I know HTC and Virgin mobile where talking about a smartphone in that arena some times ago).

Hmm, actually here is a link I found to the Virgin device.
