Evening all,

I am just about to become a pround owner of a GP32 and seeing as most people have an opinion about games/consoles?

I'm gonna throw open an open question, what do you recommend storing on a 128mb smart card.

Let the opinions flow

hi, everybody,

the first i would put on my 128mb smc would have to be a spectrum emulator (gpspeccy) with loads of games, you could fit tons on the smc, head over heels, nightmare, batman, chuckie egg, jetset willy, monty mole, back2skool, r-type, just a few that i have on mine.

second would be a nes emulator (fnes32), again lots of games as well, alien3, contra, excite bike, marble madness, megaman, paperboy, tetris, super mario, just a few i have on mine.

third i would have moviepark, with a couple of music videos.

and not forgetting a few mp3's to pass the time, just in case you get bored with the old classic games.

there's loads of things you could put on it, plus when they open the english megaGP site, there will be loads more. we wait and wait in hope it will be soon!!!!!!!!!!

enjoy

Thanks Sask

although I'm unsure about this moviepark, can you give me a link so i can check it out.

Spectrum now there was some quality games on that don't forget about skool daze/back to skool.

I'm bordering on a snes emulator as i wanna pla SOM on the move or perhaps chronotrigger.

Let's keep this thread going.

Mooby.

I think the best snes emu for contra is SNESEMU v0.00 it has no sound at the moment. Although a further release is planned with sound i hear?

SNES9x has sound but the current version is quite slow, although it is full speed in some games according to the docs.

One thing i love is the Sega master system emu, wonderboy 3 :) Robocod :) etc. some great games on the sega.

Ok... if you want to play CT and SOM on the move, unfortunately you've got to use Snes9X 0.72a - which is reasonable with sound off, at least for CT. Snesemu is faster, but it DOESN'T SAVE - which causes severe problems fro the RPG fans among us.

Other than that, there's always Scumm games - range in size from 3 - 10 megs (excluding the Dig and Full Throttle, which are 100 min), and as mentioned the Master System/ Gamegear emu (enjoying Phantasy Star Gaiden on GGG emu atm).

Then of course, there's always Gameboy (which is nearly perfect), and Plus/4 (which has VERY small games - under 60k usually).

And then of course, there's all the free games available out there (have a look at Yoke Yoke, Snow White Apple Shooter, and "Ah! My Goddess" to name a few - and of course, minesweeper and solitaire are nice :)...

Basically, whatever you decide to put on it, it'll fill up a lot faster than you thought it would - but with SMCs, you can always change what's there. Just put on the stuff you'll use and not everything else - saves a LOT of time. But experiment to find out what the stuff you'll use is...

Oh - and Picross? Its a must (Adic Release - one of the nice games that keeps me going at least for a loooong time)

is SNESEMU the other snes emulator on this site? Where is a good place to get Mp3's? And is egg&mooby muffin's name from jay and silent bob strike back?

I just DLed (almost) every single emu to my GP32... It doesn't take up that much space off of a 128mb SMC, and you still have enough space for several hundred ROMS of consoles such as SMS and NES.
One thing that would be really nice would be better functionality of the keyboard in the spectrum keyboard (I know, I know, it HAS to be tough to program that thing (I'm not being sarcastic)).
One nice thing would be better access to keys other than the standard arrow keys... maybe if you hit a key on the keyboard and don't let it go, it would repeat its use.... dunno, anyway, most of these emulators kick ass already! as usual, keep up the good work guys :) :) :) :)

I also have just purchased a GP32 from Lik-Sang (haven't received it yet) and I a question I'd like to ask also.

Exactly what quality should I be expecting from emulators on the GP32? I tried loading them in GeePee32, but I really couldn't figure out the file structure (I guess I have to make them into an image file or something). Obviously I don't expect 60fps with sound for SNES...but this question is mainly about performance and compatibility. Also, does Wonderboi support saving? I'm considering buying a real WSC and if it didn't, well I won't be hesitating as much. :p

The main reason I bought a GP32 is for emulation, as the thought of playing Monty on the Run on a portable console or being able to make stupid NES hacks of games like Punch Out and then play them on the train is a very good one. I bought a laptop for the same reason. Shame it's so damn heavy and slow!

I'm hoping a C64 emulator will come to GP32 soon, be it VICE or Frodo or whatever...I'd rather play Monty on that than I would on Spectrum :)

whodahell600: all PD software (free games, emulators, tools etc) released for GP32 is availiable to download from this site. Just check Download section.

Afternoon Guys, kinda struggling a bit with my GP32, I've registered fine and have downloaded the freeloader but how do you run the thing?

Would apreciate a speedy reply.

Thanks Mooby
