Hi Guys I thought I'd try this porting malarky to get some quality GP2X software onto the beloved :pandora2ut4:
So after some work trying to get the resolution double without major slowdown... I caved and decided to let you in on this basic port.
If anyone knows how to quickly pixel double... I'd love to know, since everything I've already tried was either slow or glitchy.

From the documentation:
Code:
HOW TO INSTALL
--------------

- Game: drop the PND into /pandora/menu or /pandora/desktop
	create folder /pandora/appdata/beat2x/data.

- Packs: uncompress (keeping the directory structure) and copy the content
to '/pandora/appdata/beat2x/packs' folder. If it doesn't exist you should create it!
Download the PND - Download some Song Packs

Well this is my first shot at porting something(that's not my own code)
So I'm not really sure I'm the man for the job... yet.

I also vaguely remember StepMania not being quite as portable as everyone thinks it is... some sort of blockers for it being ported to the GP2X...

I just tried the PND from Pandiapps and it shuts down right after it gets through LOADING. Does it need the songpacks first? I did create the directories noted in the first post.

Yes... You NEED some songs to play! :)
Sorry I didn't make that clear.

Okay, I added the Mixter pack, now it just takes longer to get through the LOADING part and then still proceeds to shutdown.

My directory structure:

Code:
/media/mmcblk0p1/pandora
                    |
                    |__appdata
                    | |
                    | |__beat2x
                    | |
                    | |___data
                    | |
                    | |___packs
                    | |
                    | |___ccMixter
                    | |__*songfiles*
                    |
                    |__menu
                         |
                         |__beat2x.pnd

Ok and you have definitely created the "data" folder too?

Then I'm unsure...
If you have this:
Code:
SD/pandora/appdata/beat2x/data
SD/pandora/appdata/beat2x/packs/ccMixter
SD/pandora/appdata/beat2x/packs/ccMixter/songlist.bxs

SD/pandora/menu/Beat2X.pnd

It works for me... :S

I just tried the one from this forum, the first post and it works, albeit a smaller screen scale. The appstore version starts full screen scale and when it finishes the LOADING process it fails.

*Edit*
I'm currently not at home to investigate the problem further, but might it just be a library being used in the pandiapps version compared with the one from this thread?

OK try it from my site: http://projectinfinity.org.uk/lib/exe/fetch.php?media=homebrew:games:beat2x:downloads:beat2x.pnd
Or the archive: http://dl.openhandhelds.org/cgi-bin/pandora.cgi?0,0,0,0,27,105

Maybe your PND(or the PND on the PNDStore) is faulty.

That works. I tried from the pandstore twice and got the same MD5SUM which is different than the projectinfinity site. Thanks for the other links.

*edit*

When I fail a song (the first one was the only test), the song button-pressing keeps going and going and going. Is there a special button press to exit the game?

Great! I'll reupload to the store then!

You are on Practice mode then, it doesn't fail you. To Exit you press and hold Start+Select.
I'll probably improve some of the controls and such in the near future.
