Most the stuff I watch are either comedies or documentaries, thought I'd start a place to dump any recommendations from you all.

Put under 'off topic general' so can widen the scope from just game related ones.

Couple of my recommendations:

Dark Days

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0235327/

A cinematic portrait of the homeless population who live permanently in the underground tunnels of New York City

&

From Russia With Love

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0074pz0/Tetris_From_Russia_with_Love/

A docu about the history of Tetris, which is still available to watch on iPlayer via the above link if you able to access this service [not sure if outside UK this works?]

Also the reason I started this thread really, I was watching this the other night and of course thought of you geeks :)

Found it quite interesting, the drama that came from this 'simple' game.

Please add on

Pirates of Silicon Valley - doco on Microsoft and Apple.

Nice one, think I have visited that site in the past as it goes, I'm going to watch those 'Darkside of London 2012 Olympics' ones though, look interesting

All of Adam Curtis stuff is highly watchable, from "The Century of the self" onwards in particular. Even if you disagree with him, his style is real head candy. Great soundtracks too.

"Horizon: What is reality?" Is a recent and nicely done Quantum Physics episode. I wish I knew who did, and where I could get, much of the music in it! No really new information, but an entertaining and at times dream-like summary.

A couple that aired around the same time (and I'm glad I had just before then bought a DVD Recorder!), as "Tetris - from Russia With Love", on the retro-game theme, were "Time Shift: Hard Drive Heaven", which although not specifically about games nonetheless has a lot of figures from the 8bit era popping up, including Clive Sinclair brandishing his mint, white, 1 millionth Spectrum. "Thumb Candy" (E4) which has a great Matthew Smith (Manic Miner) interview, interspersed with footage of him in his heyday. Eye popping.

Asmo I loved that episode of Horizon, think I posted about it here when I saw it originally, was a mind trip especially the hologram theory stuff.... deep.

I'll check those other retro game docus you mention...

Also check this: http://ia700306.us.archive.org/15/items/hc176/hc176_01_White_Gowns_by_BrokenChannel.mp3

which is the main track used in that Horizon ep I believe [as sourced from http://forum.watmm.c...sed-on-horizon/]

Seems was music acquired from the BBC archive libraries rather than audio created for the docu, but you can d/l that track as MP3 if you like - thanks to Keltoi of that forum

And you might like the other stuff by them, on this page there are 4 tracks including that one http://hippocamp.net/?catID=176

Eeh! Cheers for that - one track I can cross off my list! The EP is also on archive.org -

"What is reality?" also had some tracks that sounded not unlike Ulrich Schnauss's gentler moments. The search continues ;)

If that episode of Horizon left you wanting more, you could do worse than seek out Discovery Channel's "Through the Wormhole" series - it covers much of the same material in Season 1, gets a bit more patchy and speculative in Season 2, 3 is still airing.
