This might seem like a lot to ask for - but it would be nice to know what position we are in the pre-order queue.

Like "You are number 2358 in the queue. Please hold and a Pandora will be with you shortly."

And then...even better...once production has begun it would be amazing if there was like a counter that was updated regularly that showed how many units have been shipped. That would give us an idea how much longer there is to wait.

Am I being really impatient here?

Really impatient, no. Slightly impatient & excited with anticipation, yes!

I'm pretty sure that there'll be some sort of announcement once they start shipping.

Well considering production of them has only just started i dont want them to waste time makeing a counter and keeping an exact database updated. They have to test the systems as they roll off the proverbial assembly line which means they are gonna be very busy for the next month and a half or more. Less time dealing with trivially important things means they can theoretically ship more units per day/week.

I think it doesn't matter were you are in line. They wouldn't send the first one who ordred his pandora when the first one is done? I think they just wait before all 4000 are done and then they send them to everyone who ordered (and paid).

I ordered only a few hours before deadline, must be number 3879ish.

I'll be trekking for a few weeks in Nepal when they start rolling out though, so I'll just be happy if mine is waiting for me when i return, close to christmas.

Yes, this is exactly what they are going to do. As they are manufactured and tested they will be sent out in order of the pre-order list.
As I understand it, they could even start shipping out in the next couple of weeks - and craigx has insuated that they are able to manufacture about 1200 per week.

I ordered at the point when the pre-ordering was extended at which time there was talk of there being about 3000 orders to date. So that should put me in the middle of the 3rd week of production.

However, this doesn't take into account the fact that production will probably start off slower and gradually speed up as they iron out the creases.

Gosh, I'm over thinking this. Excited...much?

The first order first served thing applied to getting a preorder spot. I think they are all going to be sent out at the same time

Not exactly right:

Phrosty:
They will ship as soon as they're finished being made, first-come first-serve. I imagine some will get theirs before November.

Craigix:
Yes, slowly at first then it should speed up. We have to test each one before it ships.

Craig himself posted that they would be shipped in the order that the orders were received.

As for the first units shipping as early as the next couple of weeks... well, I wouldn't get my hopes up. I'd love to be proven wrong though, especially as I suspect my own order is quite near the front of the queue ;-)

Well, besides - it makes total sense to ship them out as they are built.

Otherwise several thousand Pandoras would be collecting dust in a (big) room waiting the the last one to be tested and boxed - and then about 20 courier vans would turn up and each consignment loaded on seperately. That would not be a fun day (if it could even be done in a day).

Hey, here's an idea of how we could work out what number we are (approximately) in the queue...

If someone could post a timeline and how many pre-orders there were at that time, we could extrapolate based on the time we placed our own order.

So like.... 30th September 09:00 - 500 orders, 30th September 12:00 - 1000 orders, 30th September 15:00 - 1300 orders ........etc
Then someone who ordered at 14:00 on 30th September would know they were about #1200.

Just an idea.

Its been confirmed numerous times that they wont all be sent in one giant batch, They will be sent in small batches.

I imagine the process will be something along the lines of.

1. receive a pallet full of pandoras from china
2. 9am open boxes connect a pandora and upload the software and test all works ok on first
3. Pack pandora back in box.
4. put pandora box into postage box and apply address label for delivery
5. end of day drop the 200 Pandora off at the post office.

repeat next day for 20 days till 400 are sent.

Maybe they will have a special concession for those of us that have had paypal problems? :D

I'd hope to see 6. Write a consecutive number on an xx/4000 card in there

I hope to get a picture of the whole Pandora Team, signed and numbered in gold leaf lettering !

D)

The first batch is 3000 units so they will send them couple of each week, which isn't an easy task, it will take time to get the 3000 pandora to the first come serve.

I really want my one fast i don't want to wait forever.

3800 units ;)

If they take 200 to the post office at the end of the day, the post office might not be able to process them all onto the overnight lorry. Therefor it becomes important that they don't put the lowest numbered Pandoras at the bottom, as they may not go until the following day. Also if there are two or more boxes, it is important that the post office process them in the right order.

Then again, it is just possible that everybody is far too excited, over-analysing the whole thing.

I think I have a solution.

1. Check GP32X for interesting posts.
2. Check here for interesting posts.
3. Turn off pc.
4. Go to pub, socialise, get a hangover.
5. Get up with fuzzy head, late for work again, and check post.
6. Repeat until end of November or until Pandora arrives.
