I've posted this to try and address something which has become more of a problem over the last week. It seems that at the moment there are a lot of people on this forum that have decided to make it their purpose in life to jump on every newbie that comes here and flame them for not checking FAQs/forums etc before posting. This has got to stop. There is not a proper FAQ section on this site yet, so you can't totally blame people for not finding a topic in the forum to address their needs. Not everyone has actually used a forum before, and so may not even know that it's possible to search.

Also, answers like "DOWNLOAD IT AND TRY IT FOR YOURSELF" are not any use to somebody who's asking about the framerate of an emulator when they don't even own a GP32 to try it....

The 'Help and Other Stuff' forum does have this text underneath it's link on the main boards page...

"This is a forum for very new users and not only, there is no such thing as a stupid question in here. Have any problem ? Just ask for help."

It hardly gives someone a good impression when they post a question which seems easy to everyone else and then gets flamed to hell and back. We all needed help at some time, just remember that.

For newbies too - we'll deal with multiple/inconsiderate posting by deleting multiple posts, so in the end, there's no point in doing it. It'll just make you unpopular and make people less likely to answer you (remember time zones around the world affect what people are on at what times...)

The single best thing about these foums is that that they've been the friendliest place I've ever been on the net. I am definitely one of those that want to keep it that way. Basically, if you're sh**ty to anyone on here, it tars us all with the same brush. Keep it friendly.

I know it's only a small minority of those who post here, but please, lets stamp it out before it becomes a big issue. I'm talking to Hando at the moment about getting the FAQ section up and running, so it shouldn't be an issue for too much longer.

Thanks for listening and Cheers....

 Dang, I thought getting my post count over 100 gave me the privilege to reply "I got 3 words for u fool..... Google, mother fu**er" to all the newbs posts like every one else on the forum.

;)

Just kidding of course, and well said Axeman. As soon as i read the review on GBAX.com i did a little search, found this place and thought "what a great community", it was another selling point of the GP32 for me to see such a welcoming and active userbase.

 Love Thy Newbie.

 hehehe "Love thy Newbie as thyself"

Also a note to newbies, due to the very small size of the GP32 community, you have to be careful not to act like an asshole to all of the communities. If you do, you will be quickly be known as a whining idiot, and any questions, request, or help will be ignored.

As a n00b who was involved in an earlier flaming incident , I will be the first to admit it was partly my fault...mainly for posting before reading the fine print. I still feel it might be best to add a Newbie Forum because the GP32 is only going to grow and attract more Newbies. Speaking for most Newbies, we don't tend to look for hints..we need large signs.

Well said Axeman! ;)
From my very first post i have got a friendly reply and hope it stays that way

Axeman,

Not that I am offended by vulgarity in this forum or any other, but I believe it should be kept to a minimum. I know most of the Gp32 users here are between 16- 40 something. But there are a minority of younger people who are not only members of this community but also who are guests that should not have to read out of control rants and topic filled vulgarity.

I am 25..and I ve been around quite a few forums. THIS community is THE BEST I have seen yet. AND this is because everyone is generally very nice, willing to help people out, and we all aiming for one goal ...to make the GP32 the best handheld thus far.

I realize for newbies and experienced GPers, sometimes its frustrating getting a program working or fixing different aspects of the handheld.
If we can all work out these individual concerns together....maybe the vulgarity will be little to none. Or at the very most, we could use symbols to express our frustration.. (mother$^%#^%#.......Son of a #%$^%&) whatever.
Lastly, I don't want ANYONE to think this is directed at any one person in particular...this post goes for ME as well. (I generally swear for the heck of it)
I am proud to be apart of something special here, and I am proud to be apart of this community

I don't think vulgarity is really an issue. If some kid on here can use a PC, emulator & has been to rom sites their obviously intelligent enough know those words. And if they've been to any one of the 99% of rom sites with porn popup adds they probably seen half those naughty words being performed.

Its the manner in which the words are used. typing a whole page of every vulgarity you know doesn't hurt any one. Telling one newbie to "Shut the hell up and use forum search/google" harms the whole community Its about being courteous to ppl, treated others as you wish to be treated not denying the majority of us a freedom of expression on the tiny off chance it might make a very small minority blush

But i dont see it being a problem on these boards, as i have'nt seen any one just swearing for the sake of it.

JDUK, you explained the way I wanted too. You took the words right out of my mouth.
And to be quite honest, what you said is what I WAS trying to say in the beginning....only....I didn't. lol....I agree with you.

Don't expect me, however, to use etiquette on someone asking how to 'download roms' or 'get his pirated gp32 game to work'

Why do you not use emulators i understand the comment about pirated games but in a way we all do it by playing emulators you cant honestly say that you own every game and every system you play on your GP32 some people have never used an emulator before and when you search on google you find sites that are all pop up and no content so its help full if you know the good sites ;)

But it`s not wise to post the links here, Hando could possibly get into trouble  .

Plus the rom site could get shut down, The links no good to anyone then  .

point taken but thats what the little email button at the bottom of the replys is for anyway this is an excellent thread and it needed to be said i think you should introduce some sort of banning system :D

When we're talking about pirated games, we're talking more about the bread and butter of Gamepark and Entware, the GP32 commercial games (little wizard, mill, GPfight etc.)

Emulation is an extremely grey area on any platform. It is, though, the emulation of games that are generally no longer available, so is more readily accepted. The games are, however, still copyrighted, and the linking of copyrighted material from this site could cause us to be shut down....

Nobody wants that...

The piracy of commercial GP32 games is unnacceptable though, they are cheap, so just buy them if you want them.
