what's wrong with RTS? i personally loved Homeworld, HW:C and HW2 on the PC, as well as a good turret game (hey they count as RTS ;p)

with the touchscreen i think it'll work great.

point n click adventure would be my choice
This would be my choice too. Ideally i'd like to see something like the Adventure Game Studio developed, so that the community could create its own library of adventure games! :)

Went for puzzle and 2d - I will no doubt be playing loads of RPGs (and fervently hoping that someone gets gemrb to run well), but a staple of any handheld for me has always been puzzle games, cos you can play for 5 minutes, or when watching TV etc - my ds play breaks down as tetris (via Lameboy), then Puzzlequest, then Picross.

Game genres I potentially prefer and want over others:
- Point n click adventure (high priority genre)
- Puzzle (high priority genre)
- Platform
- Rhythm

I like them too but not able to play them in long sessions:
- Beat'em up
- Shoot'em up (not FPS)
- RPG (but not boring battles or boring stereotyped story)

Game genres I like too few:
- Racing (except Metropolis Street Racer, Armagetron Advanced...)

Game genres I usually HATE:
- FPS
- MMORPG
- 3D Sport

Design styles I like:
- Cyberpunk
- Psychedelic
- Retro
- Onirical
- Minimalist
- Illustration (hand drawed with pencil, oil paintings, graffitty...)

Design styles I hate:
- Stereotypical manga
- Ultrarealism
- Marines with tons of muscles
- Emo
- All male characters looking too femenine
- Fashion stuff
- Pop idol

I often prefer a combination of some of all the mentioned things... platform+rhythm, psychedelic+cyberpunk+adventure, illustration+platform, platform+rhythm+retro...

I don't have a personal preference for 2D or 3D, but I like pixel art a lot as aesthetic preference.

So... you hate Gears of War, Final Fantasy, and Barbie: Singin' Style.

3D Space combat. Think Wing Commander, Freespace, Starlancer.

I am extremely starved for space combat. I even bought that piece of garbage Dark Horizon and tried to ignore its shittyness for about 5 hours.

to the same degree:

- racing games (simulation and arcade)
- fps
- tps
- extrem sports simulation
- sandbox
- rythm games

in 3D please =)

not really games but:

- samples and tutorials
- some sort of SDK

Surely the 'God' games (including those listed by PoisenedV) are really all RTS games (it's a sub-group of RTS)?

Couple genres you missed.

SHMUPs in 2-D (or 2-D gameplay with 3D models like Ikaruga)

2-D Action/exploration games, in the vein of Castlevania, Metroid, or Cave Story.

I love good solid RPG games.
I'm right there with you! I used to play a lot of platforming, but ever since I tried Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (which domino'ed into Ocarina of Time, which domino'ed into Paper Mario (who would've thought it!?), and now into some really old ones shortly, like Link to the Past) I've loved me a "good solid RPG".

My favorite type of game (which has no genre for it) is fast-thinking strategy. You might think FPS is in there somewhere, but it's actually not. Those require fast-acting, not fast-thinking necessarily. (Exception: BZFlag, which, due to its slow bullet speed, has a huge amount of strategy that requires fast thinking.) RTS isn't it either, because RTS games are generally Age of Empires or other such civilization games, and are usually too slow for me.

I don´t think the zelda games are RPGs
Cute em ups?

I voted rts. However much i like any other genre i can never lose the kind of time i can on civ/aoe/cac and the like.
For some reason rts is under represented in homebrew. I hope the Pandora gets a great one.

and 2D because the most 3D is crap...
And that's exactly the reason why I voted 3D. I'm sure there's going to be many good 2D homebrew games, and I'd like to see at least a good 3D one for Pandora.
