Pandora Keyboard

Kinda kills the "Portable" aspect though.
Well i don't imagine anyone using that in the train or something but rather when fast and comfortable typing is required at work or at school or something.. And it's a cool gadget anyhow :p

Yeah, taking the pandora and that is always going to be better than a laptop.
No need for sarcasm here.. Would have expected a dedicated member like you to appreciate peoples enthousiasm a bit more..

I've got one of these:
http://www.amazon.com/Stowaway-Ultra-Slim-...8399&sr=8-1

It's not too bulky, and it works really well with my n800, but it's rarely used. I usually have my laptop handy for any real typing/surfing. The n800 (and pandora eventually) is mainly used for when I'm on the move, and need to look something up, e.g. bus/subway schedules, restaurants in a particular area, anything on wikipedia.

I am sure I mentioned this, but I probably didn't provide a proper link, so here is overkill.

(I hope that serial keyboards will be supported out of the box.)

I love the idea of (when you feel the necessity) being able to type on a "normal" sized keyboard. Normal being defined as touch typing, not thumb typing.

Squidge might not be into typing novels or chatting on ultra-portables, but it could be fun to touch-type on this.

I wonder if there is a bluetooth cordless version? Or if the Pandora could be sat up so you can see the screen and attach it in a manner similar to the Palm it was designed for.

@Qatz, I have been following that for a while now (since prototypes were featured in PopSci, was it a decade ago? Seems like it.), I couldn't see using one though, no feedback, ruins "touch typing".

As a novelty, it is pretty good, BT and cordless! Win - win.

Are you sure he was being sarcastic?

Pandora + foldable keyboard _is_ smaller and lighter than a laptop afterall. So in fact for some people it could very well make sense.

That's what's cool - we have many choices with Pandora. Everyone will be able to adapt it to their interests and needs. And the recent addition of bluetooth expands that even more.

And yes, that KB you linked does look perfect. In fact, I may get one someday myself. If Open Office can run well enough on Pandora, a KB like that would certainly be nice for it.

Yes, I can imagine myself typing up a paper for school, right before it's due, using the pandora.
And pushing it over BT/Wifi to the printer? ;)

It's not sarcasm, the most used application on my laptop is remote desktop, which the Pandora will have also. Laptops are still more difficult to carry around compared to something like a Pandora which you put in your coat pocket, and the Pandora should last longer without mains for the applications I mainly use.

Well the thing is that the Pandora keyboard seems like it will be a bit clumsy to use and I think it should be a slide-out keyboard.. lol no just kidding ;) Check this out!

Doesn't that look ideal :D

I've actually used that same sort of fold-up keyboard with a really dated Palm Pilot. It's very nice. Feels just like a laptop keyboard, and very portable. Probably wouldn't be that comfortable in your pocket for long periods of time, but good for a backpack/suitcase.
