Pandora's hardware devs
Are the pins which connect L1 and L2 capable of sending analogue signals, if an appropriate mod was devised? If not would it be somehow possible to hack something up by using, for example, L1 and L2 shoulder pad connectors to connect a single device?
I agree that emulating the Dreamcast-Joypad would be fairly hard. There are lots of games which use the analogue shoulderbuttons, especially games where you handle something that moves (cars, bikes, airplanes). Anyone got an idea how to emulate it? I can't come up with a decent idea, the only analogue inputs are the sticks which can't really be used to replace the shoulderbuttons.

It would be possible to emulate the shoulder buttons on the second analogue pad.

Center means no button being pressed. Up for left button and Right for Right button, as an example. It would work for games which needed the use of analogue triggers but no use of the face buttons. It would feel pretty odd though. If dreamcast emulation gets anywhere near fullspead with Daytona or Sega Rally I will definitely be attempting to create some kind of analogue trigger-mod for my Pandora!

I know this isnt the right topic. But could you guys make a n64 emu after porting nullDC?
*facepalm*

Would you please stop going on about your precious N64 already? This is their emulator. That's why they're working on getting it to Pandora. Don't nag them to do something completely unrelated to it. I'm sure this will keep their hands full. It's not going to be a "port", it's going to be a constant ongoing process. They're not taking requests. You asking them to do N64 is really pretty rude and inappropriate.

You should nag the makers of Project64, as that one of the only viable ports as is written in C and is not an asm-asm recompiler.

PJ64 has recompilers like everything else (and all the emulators I know of have interpreters as well...). Without a MIPS r4300i to ARM recompiler nothing would be fast enough anyway, so it's moot. Someone HAS to write one if you want decent N64 emulation.

If he nags the PJ64 team I'm sure he'll be summarily ignored.

I can always try. I know it is a bit rude. But N64 emulation would be so kewl.

You can get a yes when you ask, but when you dont ask it you will always get a no.

The poll misses the option "I don't care.".
No it didn't. The "I don't care option" is linked directly to the Back button of your browser. Just click that, safe in the knowledge that you don't have to worry whether anyone cares or not.

So you also ask every chick you pass for a bj? Ask for a raise every day at your job? Ask for an A when you get an F?

No, your unrealistic request is just dumb and your attempted justification of it doubly so. You should be ashamed for even trying to pretend it was a reasonable request or justification (since you probably know you were being asinine, and if you don`t, that`s even worse).

That aside. I don`t get how donating money is going to speed up development of this for pre-launch of the Pandora. Last I checked the dev boards weren`t for sale, and there was no advertised "buy first" of Pandora units for developers. Since one dev already has a pre-order, donating money is about getting the other a pre-order, except those are over (if they stick with the March 13th date).

So, donating money is a nice gesture, but really, the only way you`ll see anything soon is if the Pandora team chooses to give them something to work with.

Why not? Where do you get off thinking that everyone will say no. Chances are, the one whale in the bar will say yes (many, many slaps later).

.... hahahah ...

You guys are killing me, its amusing though.

Since everyone is concerned about the analogs, most games use them as nothing more than on/off, so emulating them on a digital button is ok. For other games, it will still work, but you wont get as much control out of them. We will support them on the second analog as left / right if you'd like , or if someone comes up with a mod: we'll add support !

I hardly see how one of the initial dev units would be "worthless' after the mainline ones are released, but i do not know a whole ton about the pandora or its levels of hardware honestly.

The more fun news: who wants pics/vids? and more specifically of WHAT???
First response wins.... (make a list, without AICA emulation not everything works yet)

as far as I can remember from messing around with dc emulators a few years ago, Ikaruga always ran well comparatively, good game too.

Any chance of a vid of that?

A dreamcast emulator would be my absolute favorite to be honest. Would appreciate it more than ps2 or n64. :)

How about just Crazy Taxi, to see the speed differences compared to the PSP emulator, it would be great to see how much faster the beagleboard is with the low clocks of 500 and 55mhz.

And I do what the emulator, hard, and will donate when I can

Ikaruga requires MMU emulation, that may not be on the list for today.
We will see at the end of the day :)

There seems to be a small ammount of confusion (likely due to my quick posting) about email & paypal.

We previously used emudev.com and now use emudev.org for a domain name.
paypal is still on stef_mp@emudev.com ! If anyone tried to send to emudev.org let me know so we can fix it .
we will not receive emails at that address is the reason for my post on the subject, and we dont want anyones emails to be lost either.
I will edit the original post as well, thanks

i'd like to see vids of NullDC on Pandora/Beagleboard running

Dead or Alive 2 - as it's quite graphics intensive
Last Hope - as it was one of last few games written
Mars Matrix 2, GigaWing2, Last Gunner, Ikaruga - As they are decent blasters with lots of stuff going on in screen
Followed by Sonic/Sega Rally

Also note that wince (yes, the microsoft OS) based games won't run. That includes Sega Rally 2, Tomb raider, Half Life and a few others. These games require full mmu emulations and we don't plan to add it.

fischju2000: The arm code has much more work than the psp one so speeds can't really be compared :p

Ah, that's good to hear. I guess myself and people here were under the impression that their hadn't been much if any coding for ARM yet. Would it be possible to clock the SGX up to 110mhz to see how it affects the FPS?

Thanks to Raj Takhar, your donation has been received and will go towards a pandora for development, this makes the total of $30 USD in two donations.
(The other benefactor will remain anonymous for now)

The SGX is clocked up to 110mhz (when i remember to use devmem2).

It was only the initial vid of the bios that was at 55mhz
