Is it possible to emulate this fantastic game on Pandora? The game was present on the cell phone n73 (os = Symbian).
On this page it is downloadable for free (is freeware!)

This is not the correct forum to post a request in. The software release forum is only for actual software releases that have been packaged to download.

I don't think that symbian OS can be emulated on the pandora. I did a quick google search and it appears that there is only a proprietary emulator encluded in the symbian SDK, which requires a whole lot of baggage and is meant for PC architecture (or did I miss something?). Maybe there is some other way or an opensource clone of the game somwhere.

EDIT: I found this game which is apparently inspired by the nokia game:
https://github.com/jabbany/CIS120FinalProject

Written in java, not requiring hardware acceleration as it uses AWT. Could that be ported?
@Mrk Can you test the game and see if it is a remake of the original? I compiled it quickly and uploaded a zip file containing the gamedata and an executable .jar file.

Unfortunately symbian is mostly closed source and there is no easy way to create a high level simulator which would transfer the system calls. This also prevent us from having a n-gage emulator :(

There used to exist a QEmu config that would run the symbian OS binaries on anything you could put it on, but that was built by one of the guys that built the APIs that people porting the OS to new platforms used, so could probably do most of the config in his sleep. And the details are probably only on a couple of hard discs that have long been trashed, as as far as I recall it was never picked up for production use.

But the question remains, why would you want to emulate it? N-gage had no games really worth playing especially when you can play most PSone games without trouble on your Pandora. I don't know this snake 3d game to speak of in detail, but if you can describe it well, it might be a run rewrite/port for someone. Problem is, half of the challenge with these old games was in using the substandard d-pad to control anything, so the difficulty curve would be altogether too easy most likely.

I remembered the headlines from around 2000 and had to check the news again. Sadly nokia labeled the open source announcement as a miscommunication afterwards. Damnit.

There were some good exklusive games like Ashen but all in all the Ngage is only worth emulating because of nostalgia

Unfortunately, the .jar file does not work on my Pandora. From the images I saw, it seems to be inspired by the original, but in terms of colors and music, I think we are very far from being able to match the gameplay of the original title.
I thank you for the time you have dedicated to research. What a pity that Symbian is not emulable!

In terms of games I am very demanding and I can assure you that this version is spectacular! This is the only version that can compete with "Snake on Dope" imho ("Snake on Dope" for Wiz and now with Ginge for Pandora is one of the most beautiful remakes that has ever been made of the original title. The soundtrack of B.M. makes it extraordinary and the visual effects make it a first level play experience.

It often happens that, regardless of the technical capabilities of a computer, a game is created that can no longer be matched. It was like that for Q*bert, Gyruss, Exerion, Yoshi's Island, Ruff'n Tumble, Archon, F-Zero X, TGM3... art is only once! Snakes 3d belongs to this category of games.
