The Gp32 Is As Double As Popular As The Ds!!!

gasp! psp did so bad compared to ds... o well maybe those votes are more leaning on nintendo because its an emulation site. Most people just emulate snes, nes, gb, gbc, and gba.

I have to agree with mattmagoo. At this moment the only peeps that have played the ds are peeps that are in the games industry.

Even if that were true the figures still wouldn't make any sense. The GP32 (3268) gets around twice as many votes as the DS (1518), yet the Zodiac which is also freely available only gets 79? Tell me somethint strange isn't going on there...

Nothing strange.

The DS isn't out so who is going to vote for something you can't have. Also remember the DS only runs at 66 mhz which is slow for emulation, all of that 3D hardware is useless for an emulator. The screen(s) are smaller than the GP32 and the resolution is still too low to display a full Genesis/PC-Engine screen etc without cutting out some detail.

The GP32 is a popular emulation handheld, especially in circles with the warez scene which that board was said to be . It is also widely available in Europe where there is a large homebrew scene.

The Zodiac is not available in Europe, is more expensive, and is not much better for emulation, and some would even say it is not as good (smaller scene, analog stick, hardwired battery).

It kind of makes sense to me.

anyway i think the psp will become the best and more sell handheld in the world.
Ign.com believe that. 4/5 specialist has choosen psp.

i think in some months after the release of the psp, some guys will find a chip mod to allow psp to load game with his memory card. so emulation will be possible. and all emulators will be perfect with 333 mhz. maybe n64 will running well.
at least i hope that !!

for now i loved my gp32 B)

Always remember: This is a Gameboy Emulation site, so there should be lots of Nintendo fanboyz hangin´ around there (with GBA flashlinkers, of course ;) ) so this result is really surprising.
And the GBX emulation site is very popular...

I don't think the next generation of mainstream handhelds are going to make a massive leap ahead of the last in terms of emulation, which is why I'm putting my hopes on the GP32II.

Don't count on emulation on the PSP. Sony will more than likely require apps to be encrypted to run, just like ALL consoles do now. You would have to mod the hardware and doing that on a handheld like that may be pretty difficult. Imagine putting mod chips in something that will be very tight for space.

What shite. The gba has better nes emulation than the gp32 (only it's screen is worse). That has a 16mhz cpu + extra hardware. The 3d hardware will be adapted for emulation uses. You'll see.

That´s right. Even GP Advance is based on Hardware adaption. I think that this will be the future of Emulation (on handhelds), even if that means that emulators couldn´t be ported anymore.

No, it is not as simple as "adapting" 3D hardware. 3D hardware IS useless for emulators of 2d systems.

The only reason emus are any good on the GBA is because the code is good and it useds some of the 2d tile/sprite hardware. If that code was ported to the GP32 it would be even better.

But the screen is too low res on the GBA/DS meaning you have to cut out resolution anyway which makes is look shitty.
