The port request topic

Neverball! :D
Maybe Neverputt too, would be cool for a party game when hooked up to TV...

completely open source, in ubuntu repositories, and awesome to play with analog controls =]
looks like a simple recompile with OpenGL, SDL, SDL_image, SDL_ttf, and SDL_mixer.

lol, i know it's not gonna happen, but albatross18 would be ultimate! :p
apart from a good n64 emultor, i'd really love some good visual novels to be ported, that was one my favourite things to use the GP2X for ^^

That just reminded me, when you said Visual Novels. How about an interactive fiction reader? Since there's hundreds of free ones to enjoy, and we will have a keyboard to properly play them, unlike most portable gaming systems.

I've already successfully cross compiled Frotz, I just need a Pandora to test it on. You can expect a package in the archive soon after the Pandora hits the streets.

How about Armagetron Advanced?

http://www.armagetronad.net/

It's a 3D light cycle game which has an active online player base. It's open source, and seems to use SDL and Opengl so it should be reasonably easy to port. It would be awesome if it was possible to play against pc players online on the pandora :D

Oh yeah! That's a good one.

I'd also love to see XMoto.

i sold my GP2X a while ago, so im a little behind on this stuff - but can u use interactive fiction readers to read visual novels; i got the impression they had to be converted separtately?

each IF reader either has propriety formats (well, not propriety but made for that) and/or support for established formats. most will not run visual novels...

oh k, in that case, im still votin visual novels :p
oh, and dreamcast emulator - portable chao garden/power stone; and PSO now there's a private server!

The second thing I'd love to see ported is a version of Noctis/Nice. It's a space exploration game that's very low on graphics, but huge on gameplay. You explore the galaxy, can name planets, stars, land on planets, ect. Nice is the more updated version of Noctis.

Below is version 11 of Nice:

And the sourcecode:

Thanks for reading these two ideas. Sorry if this post is too long :/
Noctis is unfortunately not portable due to being written largely in x86 assembly. Not to mention that no one but the original author completely understands the sources. :p

Well it is portable, but it would be tons of work

Good point. The source will probably help with that, though

There is a game like a modernized (yes i know noctis isnt THAT old) version of noctis, called Ad Astra. Not sure if its open source, because I can't find it anywhere online. it has the combat and trading of a typcal space sim like ur quan or elite but the exploration of noctis. if anyone wants to check that out...
