Pub Joe, their not *that* similar but if you did like the Cowboy Bebop movie and are generally pretty open to more weighty animation I highly recommend Wonderful Days. Its not to everyones taste but it is very very beautifully animated and is quite a touching movie...my ex went nuts for it. Also has a suitably incendiary ending...

Thaanks, I'll try it. I am quite new to anime. I'm slowly watching films that I was recommended on these boards a while back. So far, I've loved every one I've seen:
Spirited away - my first introduction
Princess Mononoke
Laputa - Castle in the Sky
Ghost in the Shell
Cowboy Bebop
Perfect Blue

The only one I couldn't get into was Escaflowne (however you spell it) I'll try it again some time.

I don't think I'm ready to watch a Japanese only one yet. I prefer voice dubbing but it has to be excellently done. I.E. All Ghiblis, except for that Nausicaä one (does anyone know if the newer english version is available yet btw?).

Although an excellent film, Ghost in the Shell had a bit dodgy dubbing imo, Sounded like a bunch of kids all putting on their gruffest machoest hard-man voices. Still good though. :)

Anime should be watched subbed, tis the way (well ghibli stuff is ok I suppose). And the GITS film is generally crap; the book and series are miles better. My 10 are:

Princess Mononoke
Cowboy Bebop
Rurouni Kenshin (aka Samurai X)
Spirited Away
Wonderful Days
Hook
The Matrix
Life Of Brian
Ninja Scroll

Cant think of a tenth :s

Anyways that is all.
