Mega GP Mania
Having had a little more time to play around with the latest firmware, i have to say that i'm disapointed. Load up is imporoved, but the screen glitches after bootup occasionally, constant interference on screen, and the menu system is so cumbersome and amateurish. It beggers belief to think that this is going to be the firmware used on the officially released machines.
The gp2x always had a mountain to climb but firmware issues aside, there is all the hardware problems too, such as the rubbish stick response, the mushy action buttons, the cheap look and feel to the plastics and the difficulty being faced by the talented devvers we have in getting anything useful out of the second CPU.
Storage space issues aside, it makes you realise and appreciate what a far superior machine the gp32 was (in most respects) in comparison. Solid firmware from day one, great build, great responses from the pad and buttons. It felt like a 'real' commercially built console as opposed to the slightly shoddily build GP2X.
This is my opinion, but whats yours?
