Update SuperZaxxon v1.75

hello everyone. Any help on this. I have the lastest firmware installed. 1.75 update 4.
But when I boot my pandora up all i get is the same icons. They eventually go when i scroll down to other games and titles but i find this frustrating to look at.
Any ideas. I am using the 1ghz pandora. I also have 800mhz pandora with the same firmware and have no problems.

Ooh, minimenu! I don't generally test that any more, and I don't know many other people who do. It also might depend on your SD card and number of apps, since I guess, since it seems that it hasn't cached the pnd icons by the time minimenu needs them.

Never seen that, but Levi is probably right that it hasn't extracted the icons from the PNDs yet. Does using the 'Rescan' function (I think from the Select-menu) help?

Yes, the rescan option helped. But the problem was still there after I restarted the pandora up again. I have just flashed the firmware back to 1.74 and it's fixed the problem.

I doubt it's 1.75's fault, nothing changed in minimenu area, and it behaves correctly on 1.75 for me.
Maybe something was corrupted and reflash fixed it.

Battery:
I've also witnessed excellent battery life in standby/lid closed. Tried to guage how long it'd last like that -- initially I had noticed because the LED was still on after a couple (maybe 3) days and only about 2% drain on the battery after (nothing running, mind you).

Prior to this it would only last a couple days before shutting off in standby -- so this is a welcome change (IIRC earliest usage reports had this thing at the same efficiency - so what happened?).

There were some improvements to idle power consumption made by Notaz and released post-1.74, so anyone who was keeping up with the latest and greatest got those patches before 1.75 officially came out with other neat stuff, though if you were only keeping with the mainline releases, you'd get those improvements with 1.75.

Any specific reason?

From bitter past experience updating things always breaks something else, although this time it's not a library and problems are less likely, I'm still reluctant.

Hi @notaz :)

Yes, for this reason.

This is not a big issue, but I'd like the documentation from a package I'm maintaining to be displayed correctly. I tested with @ptitSeb 's Otter, and those big black stars disappeared, this is why I thought it could be a bug in Links.

I could also compile the latest Links version on my end, make some tests, and let you know whether it fixes that issue or not.

What do you think ?

[doublepost=1479670138,1479667174][/doublepost]Hi again,

@notaz : just compiled Links 2.13 (in text mode) and the issue is gone. I'm going to compile it with graphic mode enabled now.

EDIT: ./configure fails on libpng:
checking for png.h... yes
checking for libpng/png.h... yes
checking for png_create_info_struct... no
checking for png_create_info_struct in -lpng... no
configure: error: You need libpng to compile Links in graphics mode

Hi all !

Thanks @notaz , I confirm the "big black star" bug within Plan 9 from User Space documentation is gone with your new build :)

When launched from the network menu though, Links starts along with an XFCE Terminal which appears to be the root process (i.e killing the Terminal also kills Links). This doesn't happen when Links is launched from the documentation menu.

Is that OK ?

Cheers, Magic Sam

No, I don't think so. Kind of strange as it's the same .desktop file as from previous version.
File updated (same link), any other problems?

@notaz : still no luck with your updated package, Links is still starting from an XFCE Terminal.
pandora:~$ sudo opkg remove --force-depends links-x11
pandora:~$ sudo opkg install --force-reinstall --force-depends --force-maintainer --force-overwrite --force-postinstall /media/Pandora/links-x11_2.13-r0.5_armv7a.ipk

What am I doing wrong ?

Cheers, Magic Sam

I just run "sudo opkg install links-x11_2.13-r0.5_armv7a.ipk" and it works for me, even if the same version is already installed.
The md5sum of .ipk should be 23ad92e999546cd1c33b7efb923cbb56 .

@notaz : md5sum don't match:
pandora:/media/Pandora$ md5sum links-x11_2.13-r0.5_armv7a.ipk
fd31cf13d5914761eb7f91ea2cca1609 links-x11_2.13-r0.5_armv7a.ipk

I'll try to re-download it later.

@notaz : md5sum match after re-downloading the IPK file, and the XFCE Terminal is gone now :) I think this is safe to push that package to the official update feed.

Cheers, Magic Sam
