The test where also paid by us all, so not that much different, and I would suspect they also made a lot of garbage, maybe more because you need they all few days for some workplaces, whyle you only need 2 Syringes when you don’t need the booster as you are young ..
so don’t Open a Barrel on my comment..
i don’t regret my vaccination, although my 4G Mobil is still not the best even whit the chip..

Turns out molnupiravir costs around $15-18 to make for a 5-day treatment, but Merck is going to charge the US government $700.
The drug was developed at Emory University (not Merck) with $35M from public money.
No price for some others countries yet. Merck is still figuring out how much they can squeeze. That seems to be their preferred research ("will they pay $700 for a 50% chance to save $2100 in Regeneron or $3200 in remdesivir? they'll give molnupiravir to many more patients, in less serious cases, so one must factor in the chance of not needing the more expensive drugs in addition to the chance of molnupiravir not working for that patient...").

Sorry, I need a bucket now.

Just waiting for pro-capitalists to justify this rampant exploitation... +o(:-||
$682 more is a bit excessive but I don't know any company that sell their products for production costs, they always require some profit.
How else will they pay their staff, loans, PR, legal team and lawsuits.

This isn’t actually the issue in the pharmaceutical industry though:
A) here they don’t have to pay all that much for R&D since it was publicly funded
B) try making that argument to US Citizens dying for lack of insulin because the price keeps getting - unjustifiably - jacked up simply to increase profits absurdly

I bought one of those rapid COVID-19 tests today. Results are pending right now. I guess I’ll post again in about fifteen minutes and let you guys know what happened.

Negative. Control line was normal too, so it worked correctly. It says I’m supposed to use the second test within three days, but I feel like I’m going to hold onto it longer in case I need it.

You know, the FDA voted to recommend approving Moderna booster shots for certain groups a couple days ago. I'm thinking I might qualify because I live in long-term care, the same reason I qualified for the earliest round of vaccines back in January.

Moderna's booster is only half the dose of the first two shots, unlike Pfizer.

Curious.

Researchers in the University of Kassel have discovered that low voltage electric fields can damage the Spike protein in the SARS-CoV-2 and render the virus harmless. This would allow air filters which consume little electricity and don't need to be replaced (so higher upfront cost once and lower recurring cost and waste). I guess some waste would still exist, since air pollution could clog something and some filters might be needed to prevent it ? I mean air conditioning is prone to legionella and so...

And that's why it's been discoverd in Europe. Corona means crown, etymologically, and corona against corona is quite typical in European history...xD

The legionella s down to wet cycle cooling systems, I assume these are mostly being supplanted by dry types these days, because exposing the cooling medium to the open air to cool it seems a rather daft thing to do when the environment is full of a low level of bacteria. I guess the question behind this low voltage theory is how long and in how many orientations you need to air to be in. I'd guess at a low total potential energy it's not going to be a quick system, meaning forced air systems probably won't work. If you up the voltage and present it to a conductive spike you can split oxygen which in effect makes ozone (when the split oxygen atoms recombine at random) and that will oxidise almost anything including viruses, but I'd guess those mostly kill covid-19 by hitting the cell membrane and converting part of that to it's oxide and effectivly ripping the virus apart. Unfortunately it'll also do that to the lining of your lung if you breathe it in, so a high level of ozone isn't advisable, but it is true the the levels in indoor air are a lot lower than those outdoors (which is why outdoor air smells fresher) so adding a little indoors, especially in closed systems like fridges isn't a terrible idea.

A new Delta descendant could be 10% more infectious than Delta.

I have to say, I'm disappointed by these specs. I wanted a larger increase. I guess you can't be choosy with the supply chain how it is though.

Did I mention that North Carolina has one of the first US cases of AY.4.2?

I can’t find exactly where, but Charlotte wouldn’t surprise me. Despite its COVID-19 rate being relatively low, its high population still gives it a high number of cases.

No surprise whatsoever; Dr. Pagel (of Independent SAGE) on Sky News confirming what we already knew: that England is engaged in nothing more than a fallacious “herd immunity” experiment on the nation’s children and the government’s to-Hell-with-it attitude regards the consequences of spreading Covid-19 to other generations, overwhelming the NHS again and generating new variants.
What was actually surprising was that Sky News interviewed anyone from iSAGE in the first place, although the interviewer still bent over backwards trying to paint the government in a good light - including by saying that Scotland’s doing so much worse than England (on which Dr. Pagel promptly corrected him that it’s actually doing far better than England, whereas Wales is doing rather worse).

They're relying on the parents and grandparents all being double vaccinated already in the main. That said, death numbers have doubled in the past week or so, so it's not entirely a safe course of action. But then, who expected it to be with the jokers we have in charge at the moment?
