Here are some of the legal threats SomethingAwful regularly recieves because people post stuff of theirs on the website.

http://www.somethingawful.com/legal/

Example posts include:

"Here is the deal: You remove any content related to my website or I'll see you in court. Unlike the others who's sites you mercilessley mock, I am not afraid to make a stand. You have 24 hours to remove anything related to my website from your site. Otherwise you shall be hearing from my lawyer. And before you think of informing any of your fans, so they can further harrass me, I mean to tell you this: If ANYONE other than you and I see the contents of this message, I will take court action, REGARDLESS of whether you remove all contents related to my site or not."

Guess what? Nothing came of it.

Here's another.

"Hello,

We demand you take the article about Era Online down from your web site immidiatly or we will take legal action. You are breaking the slandering law and we have full intention to persue legal action against you web site and the individual who posted the article. This is a warning before more serious actions are taken.

Sincerely,

Fantasia Studios"

Nothing came of it!

I'm going to need the name of your solicitor and exactly what you're going to take us to court for (some charges would be nice) before I can even think about deleting your posts, because quite frankly threats like these are usually bullshit - ESPECIALLY based on your history.

You're a gigantic joke right now, you realise that? Good luck suing a website when you don't even know the owner's name.

Did you actually read my post? You ought to forward that URL to your 'solicitor', not that you'd be organised enough to get one.

This will be my last post on the matter unless I recieve a written letter from your 'solicitor'.

i used 2 feel sorry 4 this bb guy thinking he was just really unlucky now i see that he has chosen to fight people who are generally quite clever being programmers websmasters and such like so good luck to you with that "court" action you are going to need it.

BargainBasements,

You are Mad! Really mad to think this would have any truth to it.

You have recieved money, sent nothing out and then threaten legal action? Why? What possible action are you going to bring against us? Defemation of Character?

Well, in my job, I come into contact with a lot of legal types (corporate entertainment used to pay my lavish lifestyle), so I just rang up a friend of mine about a concert I'm organising for him. He is a Lawlord and a Viscount. Do you know what that means?

(I hate to do this, "My brother's mate's a barrister" thing is so stupid. But really I have just spoke to one of the highest legal brains in the country. This is a bloke who actually MAKES laws. Top bloke too!)

Anyway, after discussing arias and timings (and fees!), I mentioned to him that I had been threatened with legal action this morning. I told him all the details. His reaction? He laughed long and hard.

You have no recognisable character to defame! You are a digital entity! You could be male or female! You have no creditable business to defend (you are not even registered on Ebay!!!). You have absolutley no right to object. Furthermore, by actually registering on these boards in the first place and asking for comments on the service you were trying to offer, you have invited judgement on yourself, and having recieved judgement, you have no right to object. These are some of the things he said to me.

Really ridiculous. I really really think you should slip away. You must be mad. Mad.

Yep.
If it is required we remove the 2 threads, then we will do so, but we will wait for some official word on this.

No joke?!

No offence BB, but if you are thinking of suing for defamation of character, then that is a but ridiculous. We haven't done any damage: you have done it yourself, we have just pointed it out.

And it is not as if you can't go and remove all of your posts yourself, you appear to already have done that in the other thread, with your "outburst - suing me" posts.

Do NOT remove these threads! There is no legal justification!!!!

There are posts from this idiot saying "So, what do you guys think of me?" He invited our opinions.

This is unbelievable! But at least we aren't discussing why he never sent the first PC, after recieving payment for it!

So well done BB!

By the way, what DID happen to the first PC? Oops, not alowed to ask!!!

Okay, I've taken the time to ring parcel force. I asked them this SIMPLE question.

"Can I send a parcel via parcel force, and NOT have a tracking number?"

The answer

"No! Every service we provide has a tracking number!!!"

ANSWER THAT ONE YOU SCAMMING BASTARD! i TOOK THE TIME TO RING FROM GERMANY! COST ME ABOUT 10 EUROS! SO ANSWER YOU BASTARD!

We might have to start using code words.

I reckon,

magical mystery box = first PC.
BB's Automated Teller Machineyolatrolamaton depositing system = the refund.
Judicinal lunch box jury = the trial system.
Ted from scrubs = the legal action.

The webmaster has nothing to do with this.

Anyway, on what legal basis can you take anybody to court? Being offensive? This is a privately owned website and if you don't like being insulted, leave.

He is just trying to take the heat off himself, for a while.

His mother's a solicitor and his uncle is a policeman remember.
If he indeed has a solicitor, that would explain it. No normal solicitor would take on this case, but if it's family business...

...not that they have any charges they could make against us. Read the rules, we accept no responsibility for what's posted here, especially if you post it yourself.
