Psx Running On The Gp2x

Street Fighter Collection...

:D

Very slow, basically unplayable, but fully accurate graphics!
Framerate read is way off, reports 30 FPS @ Frameskip 3, but feels like 4 or 5.
And unfortunately, when a fight begins, the same 2 frames loop continuously! (Round 1, Fight!) :(

EDIT : Works perfectly in training mode for a limited time at 17 FPS Frameskip 0 before crashing (with graphics corruption).

Looks promising nevertheless, will update wiki, well done zodttd !

Just wanted to add my congratulations.

Fantastic work already, does this mean it is going to be worthwhile getting a 'faster' SD card and putting this one back in the camera?

Just checked on the wiki and it doesn't mention if the high speed cards are supported although some are on the compatibility list.

Just checked out the prices on high speed SD cards, found several types

High Speed
Ultra High Speed
60x High Speed
60x Ultra High Speed
45x Ultra High Speed

so my questions are,

Is the 'Ultra' just a marketing gimmick or are they faster?

is 60x the fastest? sure I saw 150x mentioned somewhere in the post though not on the site

Is a faster card going to make much of a difference?

I will be back to googling for the answer in a minute but if anyone has any experience with this it will save me getting a headache.

and be nice to Davec, he was being quiet on the subject until you got him all riled up again

personally i find his opinion a refreshing change... ;) too many nice things being said can reverse motivation

Likewise... he just tends to jump a little too into the negative side. Which is fine, as long as it (just as with positive things) gets taken with a pinch of salt.

DaveC wants perfection, he's too used to emulators that work perfectly on PC (or atleast with the appearance of perfection). That everyone here is excited means nothing to him because it isnt perfect right now.

Will it ever be? probably not, maybe in 3 years we will be playing quite a few games instead of just a couple of puzzle games. I still however doubt that 3d games will ever truly be any better than SNES is on the GP32 (ie. somewhat playable but low frame rates and graphical bugs randomly ruining enjoyment.)

Personally I'm going to go ahead and try a few games as soon as I figure out how to convert my games to atleast test it out since it seemspretty simple compared to the NeoCD. But more importanly to me is that this seems to suggest good things for future SNES emulation.

Ive got a 150x 2 gig. beat that. if 60x is ultra high speed, then mine is ludacris speed (spaceballs anyone?!?!?)

I just ran into the emuboards zodiac section and found DaveC has been bitching over there, only, get this. . . people are agreeing with him.

Stop provoking him. Whats the point?

Anyway, personally the only PS1 games ive played were mostly 2D, Final Fantasy style RPGs.

Someone should port jagged alliance 1, they have source code for JA2 but i dont think itll be playable.

Does anyone know the speed of the cards that are being sold from GBAX?

I tried Guilty Gear, I supposed I shouldn't have because of all the special effects and stuff but it did kinda work, unfortunatly it wants the player 2 controller plugged in and so it pauses before the fight starts. at too high a frameskil the screen starts showing olive-green blank frames so I brought it back down to about 4 or 5 and the screen played normally but still slow.

Chrono Trigger shows the squarenix logo and then freezes.

I tried adding them to the Wiki, hope I did it right!

Also I think someone with the games that are reporting "green screen" might need to be tried again because the green screen on my two games took a while before the games loaded.

I put in a couple of the "Green Screen" reports, but I waited 3 minutes on each game before giving up.

Surely nothing could be easier than the NeoCD emulator? You just put the right files in the right folders after all...

Also, I wouldn't've thought you would need to convert your games, just download the ISOs. Up until very recently, I thought that if you were trying to emulate CD-based consoles, they required the actual CD to run. NeoCD on the GP2X taught me otherwise. I now have a shitload of MegaCD games sitting on my hard drive :D

yeah, a davecbot - it could tell us how this will amount to nothing and is only a tech demo at best, and what are we doing here, get over to the snes posts and lobby for what is important full speed snes with sound, 0 frameskip, if that is possible on the gp2x as it is little more than a gp32 at the end of the day.

What, we can't access the second core? we're all doomed, the gp2x is useless, but it does do nice tech demos though.

You and everyone else that is flaming can just FUCK OFF.

You get a couple of puzzle games to work a little and you get all cocky. It is still a tech demo to me as it has no sound and most games don't work, but whatever.

Have fun with your little insults kiddies.

We were having a bit fun, don't fret over it! No insults on my part were intended.

As far as it being unplayable, cotton 2 is playing at an excellent frame rate and so is Jaeleco's Game Paradise. Both excellent shooters. I think that this guy deserves credit for his work rather than negativity after only 2 releases.
