Gngeo2x 0.6.9 *update*

This is getting to be real good now. If this gets much better it will be one of the best. If I had to observe any "problem" it would be the framerate when sound is enabled and I only play with sound enabled. It runs at a nice 30 FPS or so without sound. At soon as I enable the sound it drops to about 4-8 FPS in many spots, a BIG hit in framerate. It has been said that sound is not optimised yet so when it is this will rule. Could any code be nicked from DrMD like the FM or z80 ASM code? That may improve it alot. This is already better than I thought it would be this early. The GP2X screen resolution is near perfect for NeoGeo. Great work :)

nice KOF99 with sound on and @280mhz is superb. There are only 2 must haves left..
1. fluid MetalSlug
2. more RAM (HH will be real nice .. Garou with sound :D

pepone ... you're da man :D

I have Metal Slug X running at almost full speed... I don't really know why the original wouldn't be full speed, but I am not an emu coder, so I wouldn't know.

I am on FW 1.0.1 and running @200MHz

Indeed, the z80 emulation is for the moment in C. I'm trying to get running DrZ80 but the neogeo needs a precise Z80 emulation, and for now it just don't work.

Calling for help to update the wiki page.

Due to the fact that in less than 6 weeks I will be out of a job. I haven't as much free time as I would like to retest all the games that I tested before for the wiki. Also there are a number of titles that I haven't tested that people have tried and posted here as working.

Please post your test results on the wiki as well. Or PM me the details, average fps with sound @ 266mhz and average fps without sound @ 266mhz. I'll update the page for you.

It's the testing and playing that I can't do at present due to having to find new work, I should really get my priorities right. ;)

GnGeo2x Wiki Page.

Thanks.

I mean fluit with sound on ... there are some big slowdowns when you run ms with sound. Without it's fluid like water.

Does Gngeo2x (Called "GNGNeo2x" on front page??) run faster than GP2X Mame?

short answer, yes. but it depends on the game. a lot of the later neo geo games aren't supported by mame 0.34. i think the best thing to do is to play the neo geo ones in gngeo2x and use mame for the rest.

not to knock mame...it's a great port!

If you can live with the reduced sound quality you could reduce the sample rate in the gngeorc file to 11025. Metal Slug and Art of Fighting 3 both become a lot smoother to play.

Pepone can I make config files for individual games? If the answer is yes I will need your help in making one. :)

Not for all.first of all if you want to edit your romrc for dumpgfx or gngeo use pnotpad and never but never notepad.
Now without editing romrc of dumpgfx, do dumpgfx yourrom.zip to get yourrom.gfx then out it in your gngeo roms directory with the original zip.and it should work
If you don't get the gfx you'll have to edit your romrc (both for me as i can't make working the driver path of gngeo)and add the drivers.

bye

hm ... one question ... couldn't we dump the sound-data to a file like we do with the gfx-data? Then we should be able to play big games like Garou with sound.

Maybe The one ( z80 ASM) from FluBBa would work? His source is available.

It's a possibility. But it may impact a lot the performance.

Congratulations Pepone for you great emulator the 95 % of roms work very well, but the metalslug3, metalslug4, metalslug5 , freeze pass 60 seconds , in neoragex work very well , but in your emulator freeze ¿ Why ?

He is due to protecion sma that takes these games? Since they are the Unique ones that fails.

And kof2000 is bad the life bars, this is because gngeo it does not support s1 of 512k?

Thanks for your time and your work. JC
