Gp2psx V0.34

If I want to rip Resident evil 2 which is 2 discs, or FF7 which is 3 i believe, do i just rip each cd individually, or is there a way to combine them or something otherwise?? Thanks, up until this point i've only ripped 1 cd games :D

and btw. is this still written in pure C?
can't image what will happen after the asm replacements are done...

Just rip each disk individually... you don't need disk 2 to play disk 1 right? Just rip disks and test them, it doesnt matter really...

*your RE2 comment reminds me of the super feat of making the N64 version of RE2... into an 128 MB cart.
[sarcasm] Someone make an N64 emulator111!1one! [/sarcasm]

There's my guide of ripping PSX games included in the readme.html inside the release of GP2PSX. :)

Shikaku: I'll take a look at your guide in a second, and include it in the readme.html. :)

So far this release is pure C, no new GPU, and no dynarec. Unai is working on the GPU, and is getting stuff compiled. AntiPasta is getting some assembly code ready for me, hopefully I'll hear from him today.

I hope this release didn't break the compatibility of any games, since I did change the timings. From my tests, things ran pretty well.

As for multiple disc games...Rip each CD seperately. Only one disc's ISO is needed on the SD card at a time, but if you can fit all the discs on the SD go for it. From what I understand, most multiple disc games will ask to save to the memory card before switching discs. So save! Because when it's time to switch CDs you'll have to exit GP2PSX then load the appropriate disc's ISO and load the save game. I haven't tested this, but it sounds like it will work. :p If you try this out, let me know how it goes.

tried :D

that's madly fast!

but the frameskip is strange, ridge racer revolution is faster with frameskip0 than with any other setting ....

anyway last time i tried, i got 2fps, now i get 10-13 !
for 2D games,
johnny bazookatone: no new, no loading
rayman: loads, reaches ubisoft logo, and stopps again ... (the game, not the emu )
bust a move 2 arcade: still runs, 9FPS fluidly slow, this one will be playable soon :D

by the way i don't like your new exiting method : it leaves the emu and not only the game, then keeping the buttons pressed leads me to the movie player :p

Hm, re2 takes ages vor the videos, but they are partialy pretty fast while other parts are pretty slow, wierd.
And they have hickups as if it loads the data to slow.
Menu is pretty fast ~20fps, didnt have the patience to get ingame as the viedeos run for ages.

I have the feeling that the sd card/znx decompressing may be a limiting factor at this.

I try more

edit: raiden project seems faster as well

Tried Suikoden, the "name your hero" and the "palace menuet" musics both seemed to just play the first few tones, and then looped. Almost fooled me in the first one. :p Funny think is, disabling music didn't disable them. Somehow considered sfx?

There's an od glitch in Ghost in the shell, the screen garbles at few millisecond intervals in the menu. Seem to recall Chrono Cross doing the same.

MGS didn't get past KCET.

And Resident Evil 3 didn't work. :( Which was no surprise, since it was the PC version, missplaced. :p

Metal Gear Solid just ask you to switch the CD. :)

Ok, now i cant get FF7 working at all with the new release. Anyone have this problem? I converted the cd to a .bin file and a .cue file. I clicked to load the .bin and nothing! Am I doing something wrong??

I couldn't load it as a .bin file, but it worked fine when I compressed it to a .Z file. Can't really explain it, but it worked.
