I have had no luck with cell phones ever since my Samsung Impact T746 died. The phone was a bit on the slow side, didn't do much besides phone calls and texts but it was reliable, stable, and the battery lasted for 5+ days! It was also very robust, I used to rest 80lb boxes on my leg directly against the phone, it didn't care. Phone was once run over by a 1991 Chevy 1500 going 10km/h on sand - phone wasn't effected.
I have tried various iPhones, a few LG phones, and a BUNCH of Samsung Galaxy(ish) phones. My current phone is the Galaxy S3 which is OK, but it's not stable, the battery is garbage and it's too big for my liking. I have looked into custom firmware like Cyanogenmod, but it needs a restart every 24 hours to work perfectly (software does odd stuff if left on for days on end).
What I need is a phone that is:
- about the size of a playing card (taller maybe, but not any wider, thickness doesn't really matter)
- is durable/robust (I don't have to buy an otterbox, screenprotector, ect)
- battery lasts for more than 48 hours idle, or at least 4 hours of continuous use
- has some smartphone abilities - check web email, listen to mp3/flac files
I'm currently working construction - saving money for school & paying off old school debt, so it must be able to take a small beating.
Does anyone know of any phones that match the criteria above? I DO NOT need the "latest and greatest". A phone from the mid/late-2000s is fine by me, as long as it functions.
Thanks
EDIT:
MUST BE: North America (Canada) GSM phone
