Does anybody know of any decent open source 3D Racers that could be compiled on the Pandora. Ideally something similar to Daytona USA, Sega Rally or Ridge Racer (ie 'arcade' racer as opposed to realistic racer)? There's pretty much none that can currently be run at a decent fun speed under emulation, so it looks like it's going to have to be a native port of something if I'm going to be racing on my commute.

Here you go. Ultimate Stunts.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/ultimatestunts/files

I might be able to find another later.

Vdrift looks interesting. Can't find any information on ultimate stunts and haven't downloaded it yet. Would VDrift compile on Pandora?

Stunt Rally (its name since a few release, was vdrift-ogre before) is free software and depend on free software. It use Ogre as renderer so the 3d support is't your main problem ;)
But It is only for windows for now, so you'll need to port to linux first ( nothing major but still )
Then it depend on large list of dependencies all not that easily built for pandy (at least Ogre)

Well I've just downloaded the windows version. It's hardly a game at the present state. More an engine concept.

dont know. downloaded the windows binaries from the location you linked to, clicked on ustunts.bat, and nothing happened (well the screen blanked then came back to normal).

Are any of these any good:

"Armagetron Advanced" looks pretty interesting, though I've never played it.

As for emulation, doesn't Virtua Racing Deluxe (for 32x) work on PicoDrive?

Yes Virtua Racing Deluxe does work, and it's getting a reasonable amount of playtime from me. I had hoped to be able to play something a little more advanced than that, though.

I'll have a look through your list later, when I have a bit more time. I have to disagree with your view that Armagetron Advanced looks interesting though and from the description it could hardly really be considered a 'racing' game.

Wakebreaker! :p

Just get it and start coding .. you can make a racer with it in a day! :)

Yes

Code my own.

Greeat plan. Thanks.

If I had even remotely the skills or the time needed to learn them, I'd be remaking Daytona USA and Sega Rally as we speak. I don't.

The GoKart one looks ok. I'm slightly put off by the word 'simulator' but there's not much to simulate in a kart really :p I'll give it a go in a bit.

Well you presumably need to register to the website get the source, as there are no actual links to the files, and the registration system is broke. Shame.

Whats wrong with the idea of a community-developed racing game just for the Pandora? A lot of the hard work has been done - Wakebreaker - and now it just needs some modelling, level design, and so on. Heck, it'd even be easy to add multiplayer ..
