Hi

The SD card is not set RO.

I looked a bit more and correct me if im wrong (probably am)

Code:
So the active directory is /mnt/utmp/prboom

The command is cp -r --no-clobber default/* .

I get

david-openpandora:/mnt/utmp/prboom$ cp -r --no-clobber default/* .
cp: cannot create regular file `./prboom.cfg': Permission denied
cp: cannot create regular file `./prboom.wad': Permission denied

if I look at the owner of prboom it's

david-openpandora:/mnt/utmp$ ls -l
total 32
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 160 May 26 19:53 op_calibrate
drwxr-xr-x 4 1000 root 32768 Jun 1 17:21 prboom
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 160 May 29 19:24 quake2

Is that a problem user 1000 would have been david which was my original user, I deleted that and created dave (uid 1001) after I messed the desktop up.

Maybe I should reset to factory.

Absolutely

Code:
pwd
/mnt/utmp/prboom
cp -r --no-clobber default/* /media/mmcblk0p1/pandora/appdata/prboom

ls -l /media/mmcblk0p1/pandora/appdata/prboom
total 67776
-rwxr-xr-x 1 1000 root 12408292 Jun 12 1996 doom.wad
-rwxr-xr-x 1 1000 root 6362156 Jun 2 2010 doom1.wad
-r-xr-xr-x 1 1000 root 14604584 May 29 1996 doom2.wad
-rwxr-xr-x 1 1000 root 17420824 Jun 6 1996 plutonia.wad
-rwxr-xr-x 1 1000 root 10175 Jun 1 18:01 prboom.cfg
-rwxr-xr-x 1 1000 root 280184 Jun 1 18:01 prboom.wad
-rwxr-xr-x 1 1000 root 18195736 Jun 6 1996 tnt.wad

Code:
# copy default data to appdata folder
cp -r --no-clobber default/* .

Is this not the command being run?

Its academic but I think it was something to do with deleting the initial build user.

I was getting:-

Code:
ls -l /media/mmcblk0p1/pandora/appdata/prboom
total 67776
-rwxr-xr-x 1 1000 root 12408292 Jun 12 1996 doom.wad
-rwxr-xr-x 1 1000 root 6362156 Jun 2 2010 doom1.wad
-r-xr-xr-x 1 1000 root 14604584 May 29 1996 doom2.wad
-rwxr-xr-x 1 1000 root 17420824 Jun 6 1996 plutonia.wad
-rwxr-xr-x 1 1000 root 10175 Jun 1 18:01 prboom.cfg
-rwxr-xr-x 1 1000 root 280184 Jun 1 18:01 prboom.wad
-rwxr-xr-x 1 1000 root 18195736 Jun 6 1996 tnt.wad

I've rebuilt the nand, done the "out of box experience" and on the original SD card (unaltered) I got this now:-

Code:
-rwxr-xr-x 1 dave root 12408292 Jun 12 1996 doom.wad
-rwxr-xr-x 1 dave root 6362156 Jun 2 2010 doom1.wad
-r-xr-xr-x 1 dave root 14604584 May 29 1996 doom2.wad
-rwxr-xr-x 1 dave root 40 Jun 1 23:43 last-wad-path.txt
-rwxr-xr-x 1 dave root 17420824 Jun 6 1996 plutonia.wad
-rwxr-xr-x 1 dave root 10255 Jun 1 23:44 prboom.cfg
-rwxr-xr-x 1 dave root 280184 Jan 25 2009 prboom.wad
-rwxr-xr-x 1 dave root 18195736 Jun 6 1996 tnt.wad

All permisions working correctly now.

I think the 1000 was the system indicating it didn't know who uid 1000 belonged to so wouldn't give write access.
