What if we could make an emulator...


Wikipedia says it worked on x86, so couldn't it be done with existing x86 emus?
 
I agree that it would be cool, but why should the honored few who could pull this off respond to "hey, let us make an NeXT emu", most of them already have projects of their own to work on. You might consider a bounty if you want something done?
 
NEXT-step lives on for the most part; ie: Theres the whole environment been running on unix boxes for decades, and of course OSX and iOS are leveraging a lot of that stuff. So, hell, you barely need an emu for it ;)

Well, all the drivers and things.
 
The point is that NeXT's descendants run happily, natively and by default on apple computing products anyway.


You are asking for a way to update old software to new hardware but not new functionality. You can have both.
