What's The First Film You Will Watch On The Pandora

First, it's not good to convert videos to 800x480. Leave them in their original resolution and aspect ratios.

Second, mine will be Tarkovsky's Stalker. Have to test color contrast (in the Zone), the subtitles options, noise on headphones (the subtlest sounds), comfort with long periods of usage both on hands and eye strain, to see how well it can handle VOBs (copied straight from the DVD), how much battery that takes, and more. Also, it's just a brilliant film.
Very very good choice! B)

Mine might be Piratenmassaker... Or possibly a Women in Prison movie, I collect those.

If I want to watch something good and mainstream, it'll probably be Watchmen or Star Trek or District 9 (which I have yet to see).

The first episode of Frontier Guard should be out around the same time the Pandora is done. So it might well be that. That series will be bloody brilliant!

Howl's Moving Castle! or another Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli film :D
This, although I'll probably watch Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind instead of Howl's Moving Castle

Heavy Metal(1981) Widescreen edition

It was the first movie I just had to watch on my GP2X (in 4:3).I converted it while waiting for the box to arrive. It was the first movie I watched on my arcade cabinet after I finished building it. Its kinda tradition.

Or possibly Titan A.E.-Gotta love Don Bluthe

The pipes to the internets are clogging up and I didn't read the whole thread but I had this last summer ripped "Dances With Wolves Extended Edition" (Yeah, I know the first one just wasn't long enough for me I guess of course now that we have the Lord of the Rings Trilogy it seems much smaller now)
I ripped it from DVD to Avi and at full DVD res and I believe it's about 1.9 GB. So it will take awhile just to copy it on the card let alone watch it!
I also ripped it interlaced and deinterlaced as I wasn't sure which would look better on that screen. I love to experiment with video encoding. So this will be fun. The best I ever managed was 320x240 divx for my pocket PC with 128Kbps mp3 audio and I could get it down to 1MB per minute with little image issues (quite good looking on my Dell Axim PDA) So I will have fun finding the sweet spot for the Pandora. My guess is I'll have to use H.264 for that though instead of Divx.

Or 2012, or pitch black. I guess pitch black since i can only make a choice between movies i own, only one. But i watched pitch black for like 15 times now in 3 years.
I alone in my family this that this is a great film, but you should really get out more.
I own like 300 movies, but not legally. pitch black is the best movie i own, and therefore i bought it.

The movies im sure gonna put on pandora are:

- pitch black.
- 2012.
- The Island.
- The Chronicles of Riddick.
- Star Trek (2009)
- Paranormal Activity.
- Pandorum.
- Naked Gun Trilogy.
- Mission Impossible 3.
- Stargate Continuum.
- Stargate the ark of truth.
- About 10 movies i'm forgetting.
- About 5 of the latest movies im gonna replace once a month unless it becomes a favorite.

Hell's yeah, how could I possibly forget Star Trek 2009!!!!
Also every device I have ever owned gets the Start Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan treatment where I rip an appropriately sized and encoded verison just for that device. Can't wait for the pleasure as this will blow away the PSP screen it formerly was treated to.

Borg, you say you've watched Pitch Black 15 times in 3 years? I have watched Start Trek (2009) about 15 times in the last month but at least 30 times since this summer. LOL I do watch Pitch Black about once a year though, sadly i don't have the DVD so I have to rent it.

Yep

I can't believe that nobody's mentioned Sneakers yet. Love that film :)

I'll probably go with Titan A.E. for my first watch as I use this for testing picture and sound setups all the time. The part where you can hear the ice cracking is epic :D

The Matrix, but not the trilogy, just #1. Cool futuristic movie for a cool futuristic device.

It'll probably be a little while before I put porn on it. I feel kinda wrong "tainting" new devices by putting porn on them, especially some of the porn I watch. DS is tainted, though, which makes it even more wrong thinking of all the young children who play their little games on them. :D

I'm curious how long it will take for someone to have put porn on their Pandora and if it will happen before someone even puts a movie on it.
I'm with you regarding the "tainting". My Pandora will remain forever clean of that vile filth. Anyway that's what PC are for. :)

How long? HOW LONG? I'm sure it's been done already. Care to fes up you pervvy-dev? :p ((it's a wild stab in the dark. Might catch one off guard))

Might rip Blade runner, Hidden crouching tiger dragon or Dune (am I the only person on the planet that likes this film? Well I like most of it.)

Hold on a bloody moment.... Tomb Raider II Cradle of Life - It just has to be as it has a Pandora's box in it. My choice has been finalised.
