Will <Insert Name Here> Work On The Pandora?

When I get my Pandora I'll give a port of Clonk Rage a go, a previous version of Clonk was compiled for GP2X so at least that version(Clonk World) should be possible. Anyone else is willing to try as well, it's a great game.

Celtx? http://celtx.com/

The source is available on their downloads page (it's a link in the sidebar on the left, it took me a while to find). It should compile, as it's built off of a bunch of relatively standard libraries, but I can't make any guarantees as to how usable it will be.

possible?

Stepmania is already here: http://pandorawiki.org/Port_Requests

Frets on Fire has been discussed a fair bit in the past, IIRC it might be a bit too demanding for Pandora.

Osu, no. Looks to be Windows only, closed source, and very hardware hungry. Three strikes!

I've asked this before but never got a clear answer. This one may be tough, but what do you think?

OpenMorrowind

From what I can tell, the major dependency is on the OGRE engine. If that gets ported to Pandora (and I have a feeling it will), there's a chance that OpenMW will at least compile successfully for the Pandora. Again, whether it will run well or not (or if it will run at all) isn't something you can easily predict. I wasn't able to find system requirements (I only looked for a few minutes, but they weren't anywhere I could see), so I can't predict how well it might run if it does work. It seems to me that they're a ways away from getting it to play Morrowind well, but you never know.

on the osu:
http://osu.ppy.sh/p/about

On the site they say to e-mail them if you want port to another system, not sure if this means it is open source
Also, there is a almost full speed working one for the i-phone, is the i-phone more capable to run this software?

edit: http://osu.ppy.sh/p/iphone

one for the iphone

My guess is that if a community member (with significant coding experience) sent them an email asking them if they could have the source code to port it to the Pandora, the Osu team would probably be amenable.

EDIT: Silly me. If they've got an iPhone 3GS port, it should be fairly trivial to get it running on the Pandora.

almost full speed on iPhone or on 3GS?
If it's almost full speed on iPhone it should be easy to get it full speed on Pandora. If it's not full speed on 3GS then it's hit/miss.

Here is the speed, this is one the Ipod touch

Is touch easier to do?

Come on guys xbox 360, PS3 lol :p

Now if only Model 2 Arcade was possible on the Pandora.

Does anyone know if this would be possible?

One thing I really hoping for is Sega 32X. Hopefully Notaz can work his magic :)

yeah i think cpas got 10 fps or something like that

IIRC it was more like 5, but either way, getting a frame speed above 1-2 fps with a straight port is better than most people expected, I think. The general consensus (again, IIRC) was that a playable (or semi-playable) emulator might be possible with a lot of time and a good coder or two.

He said 5fps on 3D games and 15fps on 2D games IIRC.

Perhaps the first post in this thread should include links to previous topics where the question was asked, and add as many past topics as possible, e.g.:

Latest Mame Versions - Possibly
Bittorrent Clients - Definitely (Transmission, Deluge, etc)
Sega Saturn Emulator - Highly Unlikely
GP32/GP2X Emulator - Possibly (or ports where possible)
Urban Terror - Impossible (Closed Source Extensions)
Itunes - Impossible (Closed Source)
Spring RTS - Possibly

I only went back a few pages and wasn't very thorough, but you get the idea. :)

EDIT: Also perhaps try to link to the first time it was asked, to avoid "Use the search function!!!", for people who are actually reading the stickies

This is all he said on the matter:

I did try desmume for fun on my pandora board. Since i know nothing in asm, there is no optimisation at all. On 2d games, i get around 10 fps or less while the cpu is clocked at 800mhz, either when using sdl or openglES for 2d rendering.

What this actually means is open to interpretation, ie if it's with frameskip on and if so if it's counting rendered (non-skipped) frames or emulated vblanks. Usually an emulator frame-rate counter measures the latter, not the former, and we wouldn't know what frameskip was being used if any. Also, only an upper bound was given, for all we know the average could have been substantially less than 10fps. Finally, we don't know which games he tried, you'll get extremely different results based on how much CPU they use. For instance, Yoshi's Island DS doesn't use a lot of CPU time, Megaman ZX does. OpenGL isn't even an option for 2D rendering on DesMuME, it only affects 3D.

Yeah, I'll try to keep my first post updated with results.

The reason why I said to search the old thread is that the boards allow you to search a specific thread for something. If they just click the link in my first post, scroll down to the bottom, and use the "Search this thread:" feature, they'll be able to easily check if their question was already asked in that thread.

<pissed off>
Also, to all of you who are dicking about in this thread - get out. This has a purpose, and if you're too thick to figure it out, keep your mouth shut. I'm in no mood to deal with your immature bullshit.

I might suggest you start it again, I was going to do it myself, but I thought it might be credit stealing. :p

I think I've read about this being open source somewhere, but when I searched I couldn't find it. Maybe I imagined it but, could System Shock be possibly ported?

Thanks.

I think you imagined it, the Wikipedia page says nothing of an open source version.
Maybe you were thinking of something else.

Osu looks like a nice Elite Beat Agents / Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan clone; hopefully some clone of EBA will be written for the Pandora, I had loads of fun with it on the Nintendo DS.
