Gngeo2x 0.6.9 *update*

I am having a hell of a time getting many ROMs to work. I get that pink "no valid romset found" message on 80% of my games and others show corrupt graphics. They are all from the same set some work most don't. Which version ROMs should I be using? How do I tell the ones that will work? Is my configuration screwing them up? This is almost as confusing as getting MAME to work, as far as finding the exact roms it likes. Awesome emu when I feed it what it likes. Any info? Thanks.

I am having similar problems.. kof94.zip doesn't work when I extract the graphics using dumpgfx but in its original form its fine.

Puzzle Bubble is another game that I am having trouble to play :(

Uh I dont have a gp2x anymore since it was returned and I wait, but is Dinosaur Planet 2 working ? I tried dumpgfx program and it wasnt not recognised.

DG.

- herc, your image is great and i am currently using it.

- everyone having problems, it was suggested before, possibly in another thread, that it sometimes works to put your dumped gfx files in the gngeo/roms folder (where your bios is), regardless of where you're running the zip files from. also, try different rom dumps as there seem to be different versions of them out there.

for instance, i was able to get pulstar to load (instead of saying out of memory) by a- using a different rom dumb and b- placing the gfx file in with the bios.

now i get stuck at the screen which says "this game was meant for the neo geo mvs" copy protection and so on. i think my bios is the problem. but anyway it's a start.

davec and vaustar: i'm trying to download what i think is a decent rom for kof94. i'll test it and such and get back to you...

edit: i sent both of you a PM.. just don't tell the FBI or something..

Why do you want to use dumpgfx when it work without?
If there is enought memory, gngeo will not load any gfx file. So if you have a kof94.zip with empty C files, it will not work.

I can't say for puzzlz buble, but puzzle bubble 2 work fine.
I'll check that.

KOF 94 and Puzzle Bobble both still work. ;)

Luckily it's the weekend, I'll update the wiki, and I know Yauster has recently but can anyone else help, by posting their results.

P.S. I'm supposed to be looking for a new job, so if I fail to get one I'm blaming you lot! :p

Not sure where you're going wrong, but I've had no problems getting regular Neogeo roms to work. The speed varies wildly from perfect w/sound to almost unplayable, but it's run almost everything I've thrown at it with very few graphical and audio glitches. It's even got the full vocal tracks on Waku Waku 7 (woo!). I guess I haven't tried it with MAME roms, although I'd imagine you wouldn't get very far...

I must be using the "wrong" roms but how do I know which are the "right" roms? I haven't been messing with the graphics dump large roms yet. I figure I will get the small ones working first.

in overtop, it now loads, past the "enter credit" bit, and then you can go as far as a race, but where it would usually start the race, the game stops and the crowd animation carries on. iirc i could still exit to the selector though.

hope you can fix it pepone :)

edit: just to be sure, the people having trouble are using MAME roms, right? and don't bother converting them to a different version, like you do for mamegp2x. sorry if i am patronising you guys :D

DG.
I believe he is referring to Prehistoric Isle 2, in case anybody was having trouble finding the game to test for him.

Ahh, That would explain why.. I keep that in mind ;)

Side note: I only been using MAME roms for this so far and haven't hit any problems yet..

I don't think there's a naming convention for Neo Geo roms so it's just trial and error really. Which games are you having trouble with? List a few and note down the number of files inside the zip and date they were last modified.

LOL, I am still stuck on this script thing. I don't get the last part the PathToYouRomHere.zip, is that supposed to be on a different line? I have no clue.

Could someone please just post an example, like say the file "metalslug.zip" in the roms folder in the gnneo2x file in the root of the SD card.

I hope that is not to much to ask, its just the Readme does not describe it well enough and I don't want to search through 34 pages.

Where is this dumpgfx program. I looked on the official website of this emu and on the wiki but couldn't see it.
