Drmd V5 Beta 5 - Fixes Flickering Lines

beta 5 have color problem in alexkid for sms :(

but beta 4 can run this rom and no problem :)

Mega Drive

Paperboy: When you drive by the houses on your bicycle, the colors of all the houses on screen change at the same time, instead of only one. Normaly only one house changes color, while the other houses stay the color they already are. But now all the houses suddenly change color. This happens when a new house comes on to the screen. Example: house one has a blue color, and house number two is red. When house number two comes on to the screen, house number one changes its color to red.

Castlevania: In the second level there is a very nice effect with water. In the water you can actualy see your characters copy. A reflection. With MrMD however, this second character stays blue, while the rest is drawn just as it should be.

Reesy - just wondering if you have any plans at all for a quick update to the GP32 version of DrMD - basically updating for the new Cyclone core?

Please? :)

Why not just use the GP2X version? You have one why not use it?

True, and I do use it, but:

a). I still prefer the GP32 joystick... even with the cap on the GP2X. My GP32 FLU is actually quite useful for outdoors gaming - it works really well outside :)
B). I bet there's still GP32 owners out there who'd love to see an update.
c). If it's easy to do - which I believe it should be - then why not? :D

First of all, big thanks to Reesy for this ongoing fine work. I've just acquired a new GP2x after having mine nicked by some burberry-capped lout.

So it's been a while. Last I was around, Version 4.5 was the big thing.

Anyway. I'm experiencing a problem with two games, Shining Force 1 & 2. When returning from a save state, the sound goes mental with hung notes. You can still play for a while, however, until a significant plot point arrives, at which time the game hangs on a dialogue.

For example, I first noticed this in Shining Force 2 during the first major battle. I was able to complete it (I won!) and then go through the subsequent story bits. When you leave the city, JAHA joins the group. Hang.

In Shining Force 1 I noticed the audio bug during the second battle. I was able to complete the battle (won it! yay!) and then re-enter the city. You enter the pub and talk to GORT, who joins your party. Hang.

Anybody else had this?

Well, I'm also playing Shining Force 2 and every time I use a save state, I go to the church in the game, and somehow it resets the music and the game continues as normal. I was able to get off the first island with no hang ups so far. The version I'm using ends in the [!], so make sure your version is good and not a hack.

I've noticed this phenomenon in Phantasy Star IV, though I seem to have found a workaround -- if you record the save state while being in conversation (just any conversation, such as after winning a battle or whatever) it'll restore properly, but if you happen to do it anywhere else, it'll hang when trying to restore it.

Thanks for the ideas, guys, I'll definitely try those. Not sure the save-on-a-dialogue thing will work in SF, because that's where it usually hangs.

The sound issues sound like the FM audio generation 'speedup' shortcut that was added in the GP32 days, and maybe a Z80 crash and/or YM2612 crash at state-load time... Reesy, do you know when these might be fixed (or at least a menu item made to adjust the FM 'quality' as I recall you planned on doing a while ago?) Thanks and keep up the great work. :)

My version is good, I played it to completion on DrMD v4.x. Your solution didn't work for me, the game just hung on the dialogue when the priest offers to save your game. Interestingly, I was still able to exit to menu and select another ROM to play.

Bottoms. Does anyone have a 4.x version of DrMD floating around?

Here is 4.X version of this emulator:DrMDx

Also, How do I changed the blue spheres in the menu to green Xs?

To be honest I wish Reesy would load that graphic from an external PNG file so it could be customized rather than incorporating it into the GPE executable. For example I'd probably replace it with solid black so it just stops distracting me. :)

Any ideas whats happening ?

In my megadrive directory i have DrMDx (which works great) and DrMDv5b5 (the latest version)

I'm still on Firmware 1.4

When i run the latest DrMD (as i want to use the TV Out) i select the rom / megadrive then pick a game

Says unzipping rom for a split second and then just a blank screen, nothing happening.

The roms are in roms/megadrive so i select the folder route myself. Very weird

Any ideas ?
