also is there a front end we can use with this like rage on the gp2x/wiz ?
I don't believe so, but that would be very cool, as that frontend rocked!

Well with no option to map any buttons to where I like I tried ginge with the gp2x neogeo emu it loads but the games dont always crashes with lasest and older romsset so i assume it can't work. Too bad it has controller mapping and save states.

This new emu tho looks great with streatch screen its not full black all around just abit tho but as I stated anuone know how to change the buttons? The config file has nothing its almost blank lol

Ty all for the help if there is

To configure button mapping, you have to edit the file named gngeorc in gngeo_pepone/conf and add the following line:

p1control A=K281,B=K279,C=K278,D=K280,START=K308,COIN=K306,UP=K273,DOWN=K274,LEFT=K276,RIGHT=K275,MENU=K32

then, you have to suffle the A,B,C,D values as your convenience ;)

you can also do it as a per game basis by putting this line in a file named <game>.cf in the conf directory
for example mslug.cf for metalslug

With my fresh, new pandora I also tried GNGeo. :) But it is one of the programms where I had no luck with it yet. First, I had to find out that there must be a specific ROM path, I had an external ROm Folder but I can't select it. More strangely, the Emulator didn't "eat" the BIOS Files from my GP2X GNGeo, hm, I have the Unibios there, always worked onto the GP2X version. Maybe I must look again, the files weren't ziped for example. I also have to check the ROMS again, I didn't used the ones from GP2X version, I tested older roms from ages ago (stuff that works with KAWAKS and NeoRage )
but the problem of the not recognized Bios still stays. ^^"" Bios still goes into the ROM folder or has it to be onto a different place?

Thank you for the tip, but how would I find out the value of the buttons on the pandora to know what number to put besdie the button I want to call ABCD ?

ABCD is what the Neo Geo called them.
The default for GnGeo is A=X, B=B, A=C, Y=D.

I used neogeo.zip for the bios left it zipped put it in the roms folder and used a newer rom set from say newer version of MAME left all games zipped and all works fine.

As said many times in this thread, you have to use recent MAME rom set (like 0.142). Bios goes zipped in the rom folder.

This is great information; thanks a lot.

In addition to shuffling the player 1 controls around on the keyboard, though, is it possible to map the analog stick to the directional controls (this would make it easier to perform circle motions in fighters, I think)? This sounds like a non-trivial adjustment, so I'm assuming analog-derived control isn't possible in this version, but you never know...

Also, is it possible to configure a second player in the same way as the first player? Could I add a line "p2control A=..." and have it work as expected? I'm a little more hopeful for this one being possible...

What are k306 and k32 on the Pandora? I made a table on the wiki for "keycodes"; I just want to know if it's accurate...

306 should be Select
and 32 space.

So which file is taken by gngeo?
Started games are in MVS Mode (Level4) - Coins have to be added.

Entry "system unibios" in gngeorc does not help. Games don't even start then.
How to change to unibios?

I still haven't found a single ROM version that works with this GnGeo, not even the ones that worked with GnGeo from the GP2X. Newest MAME ROMs I have ar 0.114 or so, still to old I guess. And why are so many different versions out there, especialy for NeoGeo Games. I always thought a ROM is a 1:1 read out of the Game, so why not just support the pure 1:1 ROM like in many other Emulators and we never have to deal with non working ROMs anymore? ^^"

It's not that simple, as for neo geo, you can have multiple dumps for the same game, but different versions (mvs/aes/bootlegs). And the first dump had some data organization issue that were corrected as the understanding of the real hardware progressed.

For GnGeo, you can use a Mame .142 set. IT WORKS (for most games). You can't play most of the bootleg and some games that uses an unemulated protection system (in gngeo) like SVC Chaos, KOF 2003 (see early post to find the list of non working games).

You have to keep bios zipped in the rom folder, no 7z, nor rar. Be sure to use the last version of the emulator.

If you want unibios, browse this topic, and you'll find how, and what are the different issues with it.

Now, for more informations, the emulator writes a log file in /tmp. You can always take a look at it (vi, or any text editor/viewer you want). It will gives you informations about what's wrong with your roms/bios set (not found, bad crc or whatever).

It works with unibios.

I added the latest uni-bios.rom into the neogeo.zip.
In gngeorc I entered: system unibios

Works fine.

Hi everyone; I have the same problem... I've installed the lastest version of Ngngeo; downloaded the bios files but games don't work. It says that romset needs to be redumped. Also I installed a bios called unibios... I read somewhere that it worked... but then it asks for some other files...

any ideas?
