OK, I can confirm, the sprites around energy bar are not corrupted.
Hmmm, I have the same ROM CRCs, but the energy/weapon/timer sprites are missing.

Here my CRCs and .rc file...

Pepone created a fantastic port of GnGeo 0.8 for the Pandora, which supports the latest Neo Geo roms. If someone could do the same for the Caanoo (Pepone doesn't have one), then we wouldn't have to fuss about with the roms so much.

http://developer.berlios.de/hg/?group_id=6986

I am trying all the fixes and SLOWLY getting games working one by one.

Thanks very much to everyone for taking the time to share info and explain things

A lot of this is over my head so I am anxiously waiting for an emu that will be able to run a complete rom pack without the hours of set up.

It will get there eventually. In the meantime I may just learn something getting the current roms tweaked :)

Sorry, but i feel a rant coming on...

You pay for these bloody handhelds and you find yourself wasting DAYS, yes days, figuring out what works and what doesnt. Currently across Dingoo and Caanoo i have some games that work and some that do, some that run better than others and some that dont and vice versa.

And you know what im bloody hacked off with all the messing. I (or WE) should be buying these things and playing GAMES on them, thats what we fork out for. If these bloody companies DONT emulate the games properly they should stop advertising that they do.

I realise that theres lots of people who are working hard in their own time to sort stuff out and thats appreciated, but my word its all bloody tedious.

The last straw that pushed me over the edge was this decrypting with Kawaks thing, after all the messing the program just crashes and doesnt generate anything. Ive spent the entire saturday downloading several different torrents of neo geo roms trying to find working roms. If its not one thing its another.

I wish that in the grand scheme of things, people who are dedicated would work together to produce these emulators that are as compatible with roms as possible. It feels like theirs people working from all different directions and tahts why we have so much incompatibility.

Anyway rant over. Ive left my gngeo emu on caanoo alone now missing loads of games because if i dont im liable to throw the bloody thing at the wall.

Messing about is half the fun these kind of devices. If you want plug in and play your going to have to go with a mainstream system. If you don't want to mess about there are neo geo games available to download on the psp. (Well, there is when psn is actually up.)

What? You think wasting hours and hours downloading romsets and testing whats working and whats not fun???

id rather be spending that leisure time using the handheld!

I must say It should be CLEARLY EXPLAINED in the Marketing of these products that a developer handheld like the Caanoo is going to require lots of time and effort to get things to work. Thats the beauty of it being a developers open source handheld. If someone wants something to work on the system they are free to figure out a way and share it with others. FREE being the key word. If people are looking for plug and play with ZERO set up then PSP, DS etc are the only options. You could spend thousands of dollars on a PSP and games and still NEVER have 1/100th the library that IS tried and true with easy set up on the Caanoo, WIZ, DIngoo, etc

Hi everyone,

please, can you help me with Sengoku 3 ?
Up to now, i have tried almost everything. The romset I am using is the following:
sengoku3romset.jpg

and this is the rc file in the romrc.d direcectory:
Code:
longname sengoku3
#mame set of sengoku3
game sengoku3 MVS "sengoku3"
CPU 0x200000
261-p1.rom 0x100000 0x100000 NORM
- 0x0 0x100000 NORM
END
SFIX 0x20000
261-s1.rom 0x0 0x20000 NORM
END
SM1 0x20000
261-m1.rom 0x0 0x20000 NORM
END
SOUND1 0x900000
261-v1.rom 0x0 0x400000 NORM
261-v2.rom 0x400000 0x200000 NORM
261-v3.rom 0x800000 0x100000 NORM
END
GFX 0x2000000
261-c1.rom 0x0 0x800000 ALTERNATE
261-c2.rom 0x1 0x800000 ALTERNATE
261-c3.rom 0x1000000 0x800000 ALTERNATE
261-c4.rom 0x1000001 0x800000 ALTERNATE
END
END

Ok, I see the zip file is missing the 261-s1.rom file. I found a similar one in the decrypted romset, but a different name: sen3n_s1.rom. So I renamed this file with requested name, I changed the extensions from .bin to .rom and zipped again. But GnGeo still reporting this is not a corrected romset.

Where is the wrong part? I am really sorry if you had aleady explained this and I missed it,

THX.

BAFelton is the man, he helped me out with Metal Slug. Check out his forums.

I had the same problem with this. The "GFX" Wiz roms won't load correctly on the Caanoo. Where's the other forum that has help for this? I'd love to get the missing roms working, like Metal Slug 2-5, SVC Chaos, various King of Fighters.. basically all that seem to work fine just no graphics :)

Any links? please pm me.

this thread explains many of the issues. Some of those roms were altered and won't work for you.
