Yeah my last email corresponds to when the email archive ends, however the letux kernel page shows new activity as of yesterday.

Well we don't use the Letux OS at all, just use his kernels.

As somebody already said the the thread, They get from 2023 to 2024 to modify their portable devices. And the charger can not be sold WITH the Pyra anymore, so it must be sold separately (it just means it can not be in the same box).
I do not see any details, but it seems they are also going to include rules for wireless charging. For now, the PDF reads as if the wireless charging pad must connect with USB-C.

I would say they where just to slow making the Law and when they begun, they had the Cellphone Chargers in mind, not the Smartphone Charging Cable
The analisys in the document seems to suggest that they considered all modern phones too. But your point sounds important. There are these turbo-chargers that have more Ampere than normal to charge faster (Huawei SuperCharge is a whopping 8 Ampère - page 18 in the PDF). So instead of seeing fried phones (that couldnt handle that amount of power) or slower charging phones (that promised charging up to 50% in less than 3 minutes. At a first glance in the PDF, it seems they are fixing it to 5A. But don't hold me to that. I think they will go for dumb chargers, and the intelligence must be on the device itself. In all cases phones will say you need to use an standard authorized charger (which will have a label saying it has been approved for that, so it's more expensive) or your warranty is void when electrical problems happen.

And here I thought we would start using Tesla's wireless electricity technology, where you can walk with wireless earphones, that charge from the air.... Imagine never having to charge your Pyra, because it does that for you. Spy devices would also work longer (like those microcamera's hidden in a flower pot, you wouldn't have to regularly come and refresh the water and flowers and change the d-cell battery). Boston Dynamics city enforcers would not need to charge each 3 hours and could patrol 24/7.

USB itself already requires "smart" chargers, any power delivery mode that goes beyond the default 5V 900mA of USB 3.0 requires to actively negotiate the power mode between charger and device. Which is an absolute must have once you use more than 5V. The device is unaware of the charger's capabilities without using an actual data connection.
 
I don't think they should be mandating such changes at all... I actually agree with Apple (*gasp*) that that could stifle innovation. I don't often agree with Apple mind you, but legally mandating that any specific technology be used in a large class of devices by design seems terribly short sighted to my way of thinking.

Huh? I was asking for an added feature. One which no manufacturer adds as it seems and which would make LiIon batteries go to waste less rapidly, if people use it. I would.

You need a proper battery charger for that, like a GrinTech Cycle Satiator

I get that, but I'm afraid they will make a 'one size fits all' and drop the higher amperage modes, making it useless for, say, a small laptop that wants to adhere to the standard. For example, this other proposed GLOBAL standard:

E.g., Laptops, larger tablets and other mobile devices that can require much more power than the (non-Power Delivery) USB battery charging specification limit of 7.5 W at 5 V


So I see what @Neelix sees: You either make the poweroutlet thing intelligent enough to know how to serve USB2 power levels, USB3.x powerlevels and these High Power modes. The sensors would use up some electricity, so you would need to remove it from the wall and not keep it plugged in all the time. And then... you need to buy this 240W capable usb-c cable, because it needs to support ALL of these voltages without burning up. Even if you don't ever use these higher power modes. A bit like using CAT5e for your TCP/IP everywhere, just in case. Or use the more expensive HDMI cables with all the cables inside (like for TCP/IP, which is not always needed)

Or: It's just a dumb USB2 using less power than a TV on standby that the new phones will need to support (low power charging mode)

I was more thinking about how I'm not able to find a USB power strip, that let's me chose per plug between a preset low max current or whatever the manufacturer deemed possible. And then that's what the plug goes into negotiations with the device with.
Got me a power strip by hama, because two of the ports are rated just 1A, but they're not true to their own spec. Those ports give 40% more than that, which I deem a bit much for my devices with 1.5 Ah tops.

I have a Charging Cable in my Box of Cable Salad, which is Micro USB and got 2 Adapters, one for Lightning, and another for USB C, you only need them to be a bit more sturdy then my Cable, as it seems like its Adapters are Broken now..

At least Apple got now one Standart, i remember they had even worse in the past: I have a Radio Alarm Clock whit an Ipod Dock i bought for my Second Gen Ipod Nano, and to make it work whit the 5th Gen (the tiny whit the Clip) i had to buy an Adapter, and then another Adapter for Apple Lightning, so 4 Standarts for Ipods? (there was also Thunderbold, but i ditnt have an Ipod whit this).. , i thought this Dock thing was so you can just put your I-Device on and it works..

Anyway, i have now a DAB+ Radio Alarm Clock whitout Dock, i listen to my Iphone Music more whit Headphones..

Mandating that manufacturers provide connectors for devices other than the device their power supply is intended to supply power to would seem to me to be asking for trouble. I think a more intelligent rule, if there must be a rule, would be that it should be possible to change the connection cable for any given charger as needed. That way if the connector changes in future and the existing charger can still supply sufficient power at the right voltage all you need to do is change the cable. As you noted earlier most new chargers these days would already be compliant with such a rule due to the use of a USB A socket on the PSU itself rather than a hard wired cable.

The whole System seems strange: For me, at least the Iphone Charging Cable ditnt survive the whole Live of the Iphone,
i use to watch Videos whit the Iphone, (i know its quite small display for this purpose), in bed, so its cable gets bend and pull, so they break quite often..
and like i said: the Wallplug is Universal: I could Charge my Pyra, Switch, Iphone, 3DS, GBASP, Headphones, Flashlight etc whit one Wallplug..

So the transformator gets more expensive, because all those thing require to pay license fee (at least, I think for lightning)

Nah, I'm talking about USB, protocol and all - a device with connected to the wall plug providing power via a bunch of USB ports. Ideally with a proper on/off switch. Easy to get. I just miss being in control over the max current my client devices may get. Their manufacturers don't care, if they last just two years. I do.
 
Well you could limit the current using a transistor and a resistor, but the problem is if the client tries to such too much current down the pipe the only thing that can limit it is to reduce the voltage from the standard 5V, at which point it stops being compliant USB, but maybe that's what you want, I dunno.
