Gngeo2x 0.6.9 *update*

I think I'm going to start a game suggestion list on the wiki. Gngeo emulates Super Dodge Ball better than any other emu I've run across.

indeed, super dodge ball is pretty fun. and so is windjammers..

but how do you do special moves in super dodge ball? xD

Stupid question, perhaps.

I've finally gotten Garou: Mark of the Wolves (the prototype, "garoup") working (and it's working damn well), but I seem to find myself in the Survival mode (one-round bouts, no energy recovery in between) and without the ability to continue if I lose a round (which is something I've noticed with the GP2X Mame emulator as well). I've tried playing around a bit with the dipswitches, but there's no change. Is there a way to just get standard two-round matches (with continues) that I'm missing or (since I had the same problem with MAME) does this have something to do with the settings of the emulator?

I think that's actually because it's the prototype, not a setting problem.

Does anyone remember CPS-1,2 Games? Marvel Vs Capcom and such. Can those be emulated?, I believe its very similar to Neo-Geo games.

Btw, this emulator runs excellent on my GP2X, I have nearly 100 neo geo games, any game thats 21mb and under runs rather well, some with graphic glitches but for most of them they run rather smoothly :D.

Great Job! :D

That was my first thought as well, but the exact same rom plays like usual (best out of three rounds, with continues) in NeoRAGE (I checked, to make sure). Thanks for the suggestion anyway, though. :)

Also of note is that the How To Play screen is missing on the GP2X, regardless of whether I en- or disable it in the dipswitches (while it's there on NRX).

But hey, survival-mode Garou is still far better than no Garou at all.

Have you tried using a different bios? Maybe the japanese or euro mvs bios will work better... maybe even AES.

I'm pretty sure MAME does the CPS1 and CPS2 boards, but I can't be certain. Some of those games were bad-ass too, like the Vampire Hunter/Slayer series.

does anyone know how to set the controls up? ive tried changing things around for the p1 joystick in the config file but nothing appears to have happend

Hello to all it meant that you can use dummys to simulate roms c in big roms compressed, that saves space since gfx is the c.s If you do not use the V you can also replace them by dummys. ¿ Pepone in future versions you will be able to cause that it is not necessary to put the cs in zip in roms long?

Sorry for my poor english.

In spanish :

JC

Sorry for my poor english.

Nothing wrong with your english, I understood what you meant and what a great piece of knowledge! :D

Basically what has been proposed with roms using a gfx dump is that we swap out the unused rom/bin files with dummy ones, as they don't get used. Saving a load of space. :)

The c files are for the graphics. i.e. motw_c1.rom.

The v files are for the sound. i.e. motw_v1.rom.

I just made my dummy files using notepad.

Garou.zip (prototype) was 36.7mb, by replacing the gfx files, it is now 14.6mb.

So instead of Garou being 36.7mb + gfx dump 66.0mb = 102.7mb

It's 14.6mb + gfx dump 66.00mb= 80.6mb saving 22.1mb!

With dummy sound files it shrinks to 2.03mb! Incredible! A total of 68.03mb, saving 34.67mb

I'm off to see how much space I can free up!

Thanks for the information antidark. :D

Glad you caught what he meant there, It was like staring at a glass of milk to me.

Awesome idea though! I'm going to do it when I get home.

Wiki updated today. Latest version 0.6.7b linked. Bios information corrected, information about reducing zip file size for dumpgfx games added and a few other updates, including a nice screen capture. :)

Can I ask that if a game you have tried has no information recorded, that you either update the wiki directly or if you want PM me and I will add the information for you.

If you PM me can you keep you tests to 266mhz with FPS counter enabled sending me the highest and lowest FPS observed ingame, ignore menus. And that you test the game with sound and without sound enabled.

Thanks very much. :D

Has anybody been successful in compiling an OS X binary for dumpgfx? I've been talking to pepone and kounch about it, and haven't been able to get it working correctly.
