Your Number In Line?

there has to be a way to know your position in the queue.. they say our positions wont be lost, so they know our positions

here is my suggestion

select customers.email_address from customers,orders where orders.customer_id = customers.id order by orders.order_date

hahah

I know alot of folks think it's useless, but I decided to continue hede's work. How do I put in the time? The "date/time" control just pops up a calendar with no time.

For the record, my one unit was confirmed at 13:22 UTC on September 30. :)

Hmmm, I don't have a date/time control...I just have a text box to enter the time? Can you not manually edit it? I know of one thing I can turn off and see if it makes a difference...

Also given that there were preorders before 14:00...I'll adjust the estimation code...

Did they start selling on Sep 30? If so, your algorithm shows they sold 2000+ in the first day!

they did...

Within the first 6 hours, if I recall correctly. The next few days were just a trickle in comparison.

Nice.

By the way, I screwed up entering my time... The DST stuff somehow confused me so I converted 23:26 CEST to 22:26 UTC. Of course it should be 23:26 UTC so it'd be nice if you could change it.

Fun, fun, fun!
Thanks for this.
Another Pandora wait time waster.
I'm around 3300 on the list.
So, when I get mine, everyone will have already figured out the best SD image for desktop, and I'll glom onto the already-developed sweetness.

I like the estimated position number - According to this, my order's within the top 700 :)

I knew that getting up at 5 AM would pay off! I'm #9! :D

On Firefox it shows a text box, and on Opera it shows the calendar widget. I'm not sure which is working incorrectly. :p

Firefox is "correct". The calendar picker is supposed to be disabled. I guess the Rico javascript isn't detecting things right for Opera. I'm not sure if I'll try to fix this or not... Probably not...I have a mpd client to work on. :D

That's cool it says I'm 76 :D Can't wait can't wait....

It would be really funny to compare this to the real database when this is all done to see how far off this thing is... what would be even funnier is if it was even close

Im a mediocre 1624, hope i get it before crimbo....*crosses fingers, toes and nostrill hairs*

It's a while ago now, but IIRC the GBAX shop was not open before 14:00 UTC, no? Possibly the German store may have been open before that, but I think some of the first rows can't be right.

I just mention because I assume this is most interesting to those who:

A) think they were very early
B) think they were very late
C) think they were about #639...

This might totally change the game at the top of the board.

edit - middle list item got interpreted as a smiley, I think I'll leave it that way...

Hah, hadn't noticed this. Pretty cool! According to this my estimated place in line is #10, wow. Just so I'm sure I put in the time right, at the time CET would've been GMT+2, so 15:23 CET would've been 13:23 GMT? God I hate timezones.

Yeah, I just used some converter thing to convert mine. Mine is surely off an hour if GBAX indeed opened at 14:00UTC.....

edit: cleanup

Well like I said above. My email arrived at 15:23 CET. CET is BST+1, which according to the text was GMT+1 at the time. 15-2=13, so my confirmation email arrived at 13:23 GMT or UTC.

And this converter says the same: "15:23:00 Tuesday September 30, 2008 in Europe/Amsterdam converts to 13:23:00 Tuesday September 30, 2008 in UTC", same for GMT. I ordered from http://openpandora.org/retro.html which I believe is the same shop as GBAX, which indicates that yes the GBAX shop was open before 14:00 GMT/UTC.

Out of curiosity, I checked yours and got this:QUOTE
15:23:00 Tuesday September 30, 2008 in CET converts to
13:23:00 Tuesday September 30, 2008 in GMT
Daylight Saving Time is in effect on this date/time in CET
Daylight Saving Time is not in effect on this date/time in GMT
The last bit is wrong, we were in BST at the time. Whether that makes your 13:23 wrong or not I haven't figured out yet...
