Open Pandora for "Other stuff"?

Kinda bumping an old topic.  You can get a lot of dictionaries in epwing format.  My goal in, at least what I'm trying to port, is getting an EPWING reader on the Open Pandora.  http://ebview.sourceforge.net/ is one I've been trying so far, with really bad luck so far.  I'm hoping to post another topic in the development forums related to trying to get this ported over.

http://ebstudio.info/manual/EBPocket_android/ is what I use on my android.

I use my Pandora as a typewriter. Its perfect for that function. Keyboard takes about a day or two to fully memorize. but after that its like using a phone. The office ported to the Pandora works better then the one on Ubuntu. Overall this device makes me happy only thing it can't do is play my downloaded YouTube videos. Oh well 720hd videos had issues playing on my netbook so I don't blame the system.

sshfs is also an excellent option for keeping files on the Pandora but mounting them over ssh to a system with your IDE of choice.

At first I was using USB mass storage mode to access files on Pandora, but it's a bit annoying having to enable/disable it each time.

When I found out about USB networking I though about using sshfs instead.

I first setup passwordless login with ssh, setup USB networking (ie. can ssh into Pandora thru USB cable) and finally (on PC) setup afuse to automatically mount SD card via sshfs.

Once everything is setup I only need to plug USB cable and immediately get access to files on Pandora, can also ssh into Pandora (to use Taskwarrior from PC) and Pandora is being charged via USB also. :D

Yeah, SSHFS may be something I go with in the long run.  I've been having issues with wireless in general (2.4ghz is really overwhelmed in my neighborhood).  I haven't tried hooking up a USB networking adapter to it, and may try that this weekend.  What I've been doing lately is simply hooking an external keyboard/mouse to it, and using it like a computer.  It's really limiting given the screen size, to do that, though.

I had a quick look at it but sounds relatively easy.

You need the EB library and it's on github - i haven't seen any specific dependencies so that should be an easy compile.

EB view depends on EBlibrary and GTK2 which we already have in the firmware.

If you want me to give it a try, let me know.

No, I meant connecting Pandora to PC with a standard USB mini to USB cable (no USB Ethernet adapter):

Pandora then appears at the PC as an ethernet device, allowing network connections between PC and Pandora.

Some threads I found explaining the setup:
