Finding a proper name and logo :)

Reading through more of these suggestions,

I think I my new favorite is the prior suggestion by Perusa: Dragonbox Myriad

Dragonbox of course would be the company name seeing how that is already established with ED shop and Myriad being the model of the device. Separate these sounded a bit weak, but when put together it seems to be a stronger name.

how about

dbx_d500_idea.png

would love this light-sand colour for the case! :)
I Like it . Just drop the D-500 and make the DragonBox name/logo fill the space
i used the original dragonbox logo from ed's dragonbox.de shop and gimp'ed in some amiga dna. ;)
so for me the d-500 name would be a great homage to the amiga a-500, which was/is *the* flagship homecomputer imho. :)
maybe 'lorraine' would be also cool here. http://www.amigahistory.co.uk/prototypes/lorraine.html

Dragonbox Myriad sounds really cool too imho!
am i the only one who wants to see a 'beige-box' light-sand coloured case?
we could re-invent the name 'PC' for "Pocket Calculator". ;)

Idea: would it be a good idea to create a subforum for the successor?

We are no longer in spam territory.
All of us who feel like taking a crack at logos could start our own threads.

Likewise, some enterprising mod / (or member) could sift through the p2 spam and put together all the serious suggestions/conciderations... so we can have everything usefull all in one place.

OMG!

I've only really noticed this in the past hour or so:

Pandora Successor Community Ideas
This is for discussing ideas about a Pandora successor.

NOTE: This is NO OFFICIAL source of information, it's about speculating and leaving ideas.

How long has it been called that?   ..... *shows how observant I am...this'll teach me for only ever clicking 'view new content'*

Sounds good. Will be ironic if it has a problem with overheating :p

Also, reminds that the primary purpose is playing pyrated retro games.

Pyrrha sounds like a troll idea - first thing I thought of was the term pyrrhic victory (although Pyrrha is not to blame for that particular connotation).
pyrrhic victory is appropriate too - the Pandora team "succeeded" to produce the Pandora, but with massive losses.

I like "Pyra", it's not a very common term only 2.5M hits on google.

Pyragon is okay but harder to say it, doesn't exactly trip off the tongue.

Could be "Dragonbox Pyra", with Dragonbox being the company. Like "Commodore Amiga".

"Tarragon Tau"
the worst suggestion by a wide margin :p

but you also came up with Pyra I think - win some lose some

I had a few other lame ideas that might belong in the silly thread:

- Pocket Penguin (is that a penguin in your pocket or you're just happy to see me?)

- Microtron (apparently that's a type of particle accelerator)

- Yendora (reference to Nethack / preciousness)

- Dragonhung (if you want a very masculine name haha)

I have a very simple Tip:

The Dragonbox Egg

Dragonbox Egg is easy to remind,

From an Egg can outcome all what you want..

..the Shopname is inside that Project Name...

...it remind that all Things begin small...

...a Egg is cute so not only for Men....

And as Logo can you simply use a small cracked Egg.

From this Egg can come all out. Little like opening the Pandoras Box because

You dont know realy what come out for YOU.

A Gaming Machine, A Linux Handeld,

A full mini Computer with much portable Power.

A Living Room mini Multimedia Computer for TVs All you want ;)

And a Cracked Egg is a Egg from Evildragon :)

Sometimes are the simplest Suggestions the best.

Speak it loud and its very easy to remind. Dragonbox Egg

Sorry, but I still like "Prometheus".

It fits and sounds powerful.

Elpis (ἐλπίς) - ancient greek for "hope"... and that's what Pandoras box contained too, right?

Is there any concept art on the build design? I really think it would help with coming up with a fitting name.

As with my children we had some names picked out but until we saw them we didn't set anything in stone.

Dragonbox is very good (it helps that you already have the website established so people are familiar with the name) but if you're looking for a shorter alternative how bout something like "Wyvern"?  if i have time i'll come up with some logos.

I named all my kids before my wife and I got wed and they were set in stone :)
