Slackware for Pandora 14.1

Hello Linux-SWAT,

I have a problem with truecrypt under Slackware 14.1 and I can't solve it.

I installed Slackware with this howto http://boards.openpandora.org/topic/11132-tutorial-format-your-sd-card-and-install-slackware-using-only-your-pandora/#entry206993 on my sd-card.

All is fine but the only thing it doesn't work is truecrypt.

I can start the programm, I can select the truecrypt-file but if I write my password, truecrypt give me this failure message:

failure message at using userpassword
Failed to obtain administrator privileges: Sorry, user steren is not allowed to execute '/usr/bin/truecrypt --core-service' as root on daddelbox.
failure message at using rootpassword
Failed to obtain administrator privileges: Sorry, try again.

I've installed wxpython and cryptoki. lvm, lvm2 and fuse are installed too.

I don't know what can I do. I can't find more information with google and in this forum.

My user are not in the group wheel because I try it and the result was another failure message from truecrypt.:

"device-mapper reload ioctl on truecrypt1_0 failed: No such file or directory
Command failed"

If my user is in group wheel I can't start pnd-files.

I hope you can help me.

Greetings,

Gismo

PS: Sorry for my bad english. I hope you can understand me.

Hi.

Try to launch it from the terminal, using ktsuss (like gksu/gksudo):

ktsuss truecrypt

That said, i wonder why truecrypt has to be launched as root. What is the "truecrypt-file" feature ?

Hello Linux-SWAT,

Try to launch it from the terminal, using ktsuss (like gksu/gksudo):

ktsuss truecrypt
If I start truecrypt with ktsuss, my Pandora ask me for my root Password. If I click on the button "Select File...", in terminal appear "Error creating proxy: Connection is clodes (g-io-error-quark, 18)

If I click on the mount-button, truecrypt ask me for my truecryptfile password and the shoes me a failure message:

device mapper: reload ioctl on truecrypt1_0 failes: No such file or directory

Command failed

That said, i wonder why truecrypt has to be launched as root. What is the "truecrypt-file" feature ?
I have mounted the truecrypt container file under my desktop pc, Uuntu 12.04. It works.

I'm not sure what you mean. Did you mean the volume properties?

This are the volume properties:

Location: /media/portdata/savedata.tc (this is my sd-card)

Virtual Device: /dev/mapper/truecrypt1

Size: 2,4 GB

Type: Normal

Read-Only: no

Hidden Volume Protected: No

Encryption Algorithm: AES-Twofish

Primary Key Size: 512 bits

Secondary Key Size (XTS Mode): 512 bits

Block Size: 128 bits

Mode of Operation: XTS

PKCS-S PRF: HMAC-SHA-512

Volume Format Version: 2

Embedded Backup Header: Yes

I don't use a keyfile.

Hello Linux-SWAT,

if I make changes in truecrypt preferences, I can mount the containerfile. I make a mark by System Integration -> Kernel Services "Do not use kernel cryptographic services"
But I can't change into the directory /media/truecrypt1 as a user, I must be root. I can't change the privileges with chmod 777 /media/truecrypt1 as root.

Interessting is, if I click on the bitton "Select File..." the failure message in terminal is the same as before: Error creating proxy: The connection is closed (g-io-error-quark, 18)

I try it as a normal user too, but it doesn't work. The failure messages are the same as before:

failure message at using userpassword
Failed to obtain administrator privileges: Sorry, user steren is not allowed to execute '/usr/bin/truecrypt --core-service' as root on daddelbox.
failure message at using rootpassword
Failed to obtain administrator privileges: Sorry, try again.

Have you any ideas?

I have no idea :/ , i don't use this software.

Maybe ask on the truecrypt boards ?

Hello Linux-SWAT,

I found a solution and I wrote a howto. But i wrote it in german, you can find it here: http://forum.gp2x.de/viewtopic.php?f=58&t=16726

Here is a short recapitulation:

1. install wxPython and truecrypt with Gslapt

2. add "%truecrypt ALL=NOPASSWD: /usr/bin/truecrypt" (without double quote) at the End of /etc/sudoers

Attention! The last row must be empty.

3. make a new group named truecrypt

    groupadd truecrypt

4. add user in group truecrypt

    usermod -aG truecrypt USERNAME

5. log out and log in

6. start truecrypt and go to Settings -> Preferences -> System Integration

make a mark at "Do not use kernel cryptographic services"

I'm uploading the release 4.

Its a perfect release, everything is fixed, every feature i wanted to implement since -current is working.

It's up to date, with latest Slackware ARM patches including SSL fixes.

I've also uploaded the build system a few days ago, but have not yet fully corrected its wiki.

I'm also trying to fix some pnd, Mupen and PPSSPP should (re)work in a few releases.

If you have some you'd like to see working, tell me.

I'll probably refresh the donation thread in a few days.

Upload will finish in approx. 3 hours.

I downloaded the file SL4P-14.1-4.tar.bz2 two times but the md5 hash is 60e199b99e80bc70dd4ffa776490237b.

I used the command "md5sum SL4P-14.1-4.tar.bz2" in terminal.

Have I made a mistake?

I would really see MeTV working so I don't have to change to SZ when I want to record

something from TV. So far Slackware is the best.

I downloaded the file, the hash is good.

What's "MeTV" ?

this is Me TV , working in SZ and pandian (I have a pnd on OP) :

there is a link in german forum http://forum.gp2x.de/download/file.php?id=1148

Me TV is a user-friendly desktop application for watching digital television services that use the DVB standard.

Me TV works with DVB-T, DVB-S, DVB-C and ATSC devices that are supported by Linux kernel drivers. Application uses GTK+ libraries for user interface and VLC or Xine libraries for DVB TV. If you would like to add a new feature yourself then feel free to create your own branch in the Me TV project.
